Tiny news in April
« on: March 01, 2013, 04:15:02 AM »
So we already knew from Twitter that back in January, CCP ran some sort of internal test of the game so far. Couple of news sites reporting the following quote showed up today in my RSS feed;

"We're playing it internally at CCP. It's actually a problem that some of our employees are losing themselves already in the World of Darkness as we go through the playtests," Petursson said. "And we'll be showing a tiny piece of that also at Fanfest. So that is all I have to say about that at this time."

Getting lost, eh? Is it because it's so massive? Or are there a lot more issues needed to work out. Probably both...

EDIT: Nevermind. I can't think today. lol I'm looking forward to seeing some gameplay for sure! Get a sneak peek of having no life lol

Yeah, I hear ya. English is my third language so I used to make that kind of mistake too. 'Getting lost into', in this context, obviously means 'spending way too much time playing instead of working', rather than 'Where the fuck is this and how do I get back to town?!'

If my boss ever expressed concern at my orientation skills in MMORPGs, I'd have to buy her a cake or something :D

LOL Well the only problem with your theory is that English is my first language. I am simply going to blame being tired on my lack of comprehension tonight!

Yeah I saw that Massively article.  It'll be fun to see a snippet of their internal test runs, but I know we aren't getting anything solid, so I'm still waiting to play the game.  I've grown somewhat tired of the endless, small, meaningless updates.  At this point, I just want to play the game.

Unfortunately you are not going to be able to play until release in 2015 so for now small updates it is.
So the only way you can play WoD now is P&P or LARPing, does it give back the urge to do so?

Sadly, no.  I think I'm dead inside.

I mean... I still look for new info on the game even tho I know there won't be any.  I'll definitely watch whatever they present on the WoD at Fanfest.  But as you said, I can't even sortof get excited until 2014, because then at least the game should be within a year or year and a half.  Get excited again before then?  Meh... I'd rather look forward to Sanguine Nights.

I'm thinking 2016 myself. My excitement is also on the backburner, but not specifically because of the delays.

I have reservations regarding CCP and what they're doing with the IP right now. I'm not sure I'll fully enjoy the game they're making even if I love the IP, so I'm in wait-and-see mode. I have mostly minor but additive reservations that touch gameplay, engine and monetization. Until those are allayed, in my mind, there's a chance this game could ultimately not live up to expectations, and I'll only know for sure once we have alot more info on hand. Perhaps its a blessing in disguise; if I was convinced it's going to rock my world as I was back in 2006-08, the wait would be pretty painful.

Sheesh you sound so gloomy.

The thing about these expectations is that if in a year or two you get married with children or find a way to get that job position you always dreamed about you probably won't have that much time to grind away in an MMORPG anyway right? (Disclaimer : I don't know where you are with your life, its just general assessment about myself and people around my age)

I've been playing games my whole life.  I doubt a wife or a new job would stop me.  More like I'd get them (wife or people at work) addicted to whatever I was playing.

They should have brought probes.  Amateur mistake.  May they wander forever in the Warrens/Labyrinth/Astral Realm.  Dibs on their haven.

Can you become one of the vampires that escape into the shadowlands and stays there to become some kind of PvP ghost?

Escaping to the Shadowlands is one thing (perhaps it could be lumped with the achieving-Golconda material), but if they want to do full justice to a lot of clans, they're going to need to put in a lot of parallel material that the "average" vampire wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't be able to use. The Giovanni need ghosts and the Shadowlands/Underworld, the Lasombra sort of need the Abyss (in lore if not as an actual game location), the Gangrel and werewolves need extensive rural areas, and god knows what the Tremere will need for all their rituals.
Remember: It's not the size of your fangs that matters; it's what you stick them in.

Nagaraja can go to the Shadowlands with Nihilistics.

The Tremere got a ritual for that too.
