  •                 Since I'm in the mood, I thought we could talk about online games that have any kind of similarity to the World of Darkness MMO. Namely in allowing players to play as vampires or werewolves or witch-hunters and/or being partially horror-based, etc.
Dark World Online, a vaporware that was uncannily similar to the World of Darkness MMO (this may have been why it went under), is the poster child of this idea. It had vampires and werewolves, but mages were replaced with witch-hunters. It's definitely more combat than horror.
Shadowbane: Chronicle of Strife has constant wars for control of the world (between the NA/EU players and the CN farmers, similar to EVE), vampires playing a major role in the story, werewolves as a multi-class, a witch-hunting religion, and magic-users who manipulate reality. It lacks any kind of horror.
And then we have Darkeden. It's basically your average Korean grind, but with horror-themed window dressings, plus witch-hunters, vampires, and aliens as playable races. Humans can also turn into vampires and vice versa. It's just lying to itself; there is no horror whatsoever.

An interesting article (and debate) about Dark World Online's originality...or lack thereof.
