And here's the presentation they did past Friday!  It's surprisingly interesting, and some of the backgrounds, well... let's just say the backgrounds are worth taking a look at.

19:15, "... and this is an actual in-game asset, we didn't, you know, isolate it into a million polys specifically just to demo cloth...". That doesn't look like Eve Online to me. thinking

Ok, I'll just shut up and let you watch the presentation.

Very interesting presentation! Thank you for posting it. The designs of the clothing seemed very WoD, especially the final example with the spiked corset.

I hope they are indeed using those clothing and hair animations in the WoD MMO. Will look very nice if they do.  love

Why would you expect Incarna to look like EVE?

One is a Space Sim, while the other is an interactive chat room.

It would be fair to say that the models themselves were exotic dancers from Eve.  Dancers have been a tradable commodity for years, and they did previously make an appearance in the
">Incarna video at Fan Fest 2008.

However, even more interesting than the latest video's models is the video's background.  It looks like a simple sky box, but the dusky water color sky and the distant buildings look like something straight out of the WoD core book.  No such environment exists in Eve, and it is actually a stark contrast from the environments we've seen from Incarna so far.

You are assuming that the background is an in-game asset and not just an open testworld.

Do note that the entire presentation is a tech demo for Nvidia and not actually for Incarna. They want to sell the tech to other companies, like Valve did with the Source Engine.

I was not assuming that particular background was an in-game asset, just pointing out that it looks like something built by the Atlanta team (since it looks WoD-ish) rather than something developed by the Eve team.  The only reason that matters to me is because it would imply that the Atlanta team is -- at least in some way -- using the engine or at least creating content for use in the engine.

They did specifically say those were in-game assets. Now whether that means EVE or WoD is unclear, but it's definitely more than a tech demo, they said as much.

They specified that the clothing was in-game assets.

It is also most assuredly not more than a tech demo. Did you miss the whole "and this can be used in your game regardless of graphic type. Even with more cartoony graphics this system can work for you."

It is an advertisement for the cloth-coding. Nothing else.

If that were the case, it would have been an NVIDIA presentation and they would not have shared the spotlight with a developer.  I base this opinion on the exclusive presentations I saw from NVIDIA at E3.  They have a very different feel when presented by NVIDIA itself.

The models were declared "in-game assets", and I take that to mean they're from Eve.  Keep in mind, those words came from the mouth of Monier Maher of NVIDIA.  The background was not mentioned at all, and my opinion is that it's more WoD-ish than Eve-ish.  If you can refute this, be my guest.  As far as I can tell, NVIDIA contributed the Maya plugins, but nothing more.  The technology is great, and CCP has effectively demonstrated its usefulness.  I think we can all agree on that much.

As for the Incarna/WoD content relationship being comparable to Diablo3/Warcraft4 content, I think that's a flawed comparison.  I love all 4 intellectual properties(Eve, WoD, Warcraft, Diablo), but as far as I know Warcraft 4 is still just a rumor/pipedream.  This site is full of high hopes, but offers little or no solid evidence.  Plus, it hasn't gotten any more leads in the past 17 months.

Your claim that Eve is a space sim and Incarna is an interactive chat room leads me to believe that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of Eve and/or Incarna.  I know you've read about them, but have you played?  Do you have any actual experience with Eve?  Anything at all on which to base your opinion regarding a comparison between Flying in Space (FiS) and Walking in Stations (WiS)?

Very interesting demo and being a fan of computer animation in general I think it's a nifty tool.  It deiffinetly has great applicatiosn for making animations more realistic in the clothing department.

On the WoD side, I HOPE it's things they have been developing for a WoD MMO....but the longer it goes on with no news of anything at all on production the harder it is getting for me to believe that it is ever coming out.  When it was anounced there was an estimated release date of 2010-2011.  I would think this close we'd get at least a minor bone thrown in our direction.  However most of what we seem to ahve is speculation based on a hope and a demos of things that CCP will not say what they are related too.

.... of course it's coming out? What makes you doubt that? Information from their annual reports indicate it... their constant hiring of extra staff for the atlanta office indicates it.....

In my opinion, there is nothing to indicate that it ISNT coming out...
