Work went late tonight.  Met with parents of my students.  Ungh.  I know what my responses are to your posts but I'm dead tired, so I'm gonna try to fire them off before I head out for work again early tomorrow.  Just a heads up.  If i miss that window Sunday evening for sure.

Sorry I'm posting a bit slower at the moment.  This week and through next are a bit intense as a major test that I teach for approaches.  I'll have time to post on Monday and then after this week my schedule will open up and I'll be trying to make at least one post  (for each of you) every day.

Thanks for understanding!

I'll trade you not being able to post every day if you can get me a teaching position.   :cometome:
Did I mention I have a Master's in English, Literature and Language, and a certificate in Rhetoric and Composition?   :cometome: :cometome:

Yeah... that explains so much, doesn't it?

Do you live in New York, because I might be able to.

well, you could get get another masters and teach in NYC public schools as English or ESL teacher.  You could get a job tutoring for the various English tests the city offers... ACT, (P) SAT, SHSAT, Regents English, etc.  Although you'd probably have to supplement that income a little.  You could work through one of the tutoring websites in the city.  You can work as a substitute teacher.  You could get an editing job.  You could always get work as an office temp, with those clear communication and writing skills you picked up from all of that English.  You could probably also get a ton of jobs writing for startup magazines n' such, although they probably wouldn't pay you at first, if any of them took off and got popular you'd be on board a rising star.  Just some possibilities the city offers for those of us inclined towards English as a profession.

I've done some tutoring work, but wasn't actually employed by a company to do it. Unfortunately, I don't have a teaching credential, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to go back at least for that. I apply for temp jobs and receptionists and customer service rep jobs and everything, but so far only one of them has even gotten back to me once with a "You made it past the first round" email. I'm guessing they don't want to hire somebody they feel is "over"-qualified, even though he's perfectly willing to work for the same wages in this hound-consume-hound world!

You could teach english in Tokyo japan with your degree ;)

Yeah... That's what most of my classmates are ending up doing. Japan, China, and Taiwan. (Even one guy who's Taiwanese-American and a philosophy major probably has to go to Japan to teach English. Go figure.) At least I wouldn't have to go back for a credential to do that. I can teach "conversational" English.

Finding an editing job in NY also sounds good assuming you are into reading other people's stuff and it might give you options to grow into the publishing business.

I applied for an entry-level sub-co-trainee-intern-editor position two days ago (I was super-excited to find one at that level!). About ten minutes ago I applied for a proofreader job at a company I've applied to before, but never gotten word back from. If it's for the same job, and they're re-posting the job offer, then there's no damn good excuse why they shouldn't have hired me in the first round.

And also... vampires. Japanese vampires. Japanese vampires IN JAPAN. Yeah.

The last two weeks were a bit hellish, but I'm glad to say that tomorrow we will resume the hostilities game!  I've now got as much free time as Charlie Sheen!

From what I understand, Charlie Sheen isn't occupied, but he doesn't have a lot of free time.

*wink*wink*

And good news on a job! Just came from a very promising "testing", and got to talk to the hiring manager and everything! I may have less free time, but I will have more moneys! So by next year, I may actually get to meet some of you at the next Grand-Masquerade-analogue and we can scope for chic- I mean, roleplay in person!

He is doing a Comedy TV show called Anger Management actually.. so he has to attend shooting at least once a week if not more.

Tell us when you get the job, whatever it is, until then its too early to say my congrats.

Posting was kinda slow at the beginning of this week, so doesn't seem like much of a problem, but I had jury duty yesterday and again today.  It could go into next week if they choose me.  Just so you know if I don't post right away.  Plus, Thanksgiving is next Thursday, so ditto end of next week!

Do you meet any cute NYC girls on Jury duty?

Last time, yes, actually.  This time not so much.  Although I've only see 3 other Jurors for this case besides me, of course.  So I think for this particular jury that only leaves two more.  So there's always some hope.

So my holiday stuff is almost wrapped up.  Gonna take a trip to Florida next week, then I'm back in the saddle.  I can start posting this week if you guys want, but there might be a lull next week if I don't have solid internet access while down there.

Edit:  Alrighty, post-FL then.

Not that it probably matters, but I'll be off for Thanksgiving. Should be back and able to reply again by the weekend! Everybody have a good Thanksgiving if you celebrate it!
