NPC file editing.
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:39:17 pm »
Is it possible to make a .NPC file for multiplayer which can be used in a Lan game playing AoR?

I tried starting a Lan game with Jeanette skin, made a .NPC file by copying Christof's and none of the stat changes seemed to take effect. E.g. wanted to raise the Stat Caps from 100 to 200 max. Plus it would be nice to have some equipment without having to open ST.

I've never played AoR or Gigapack mods, would truly like to complete a Lan game with a different skin.

Thanks for any tips, links or help.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

Ok, figured it out. He's attacked each new skin to an Original NPC .NPC file.

You can change equipment and so on with the npc files but the stats are limited to a max of 100 (except for blood and health).
To equip an item add a line like this:
item      tailoredArmor      equip
To place it inventory:
item      tailoredArmor      main

use 'belt' instead of main/equip to put it in a quick slot.

Actually you can, well at least I figure out how to on my game, starting AoR with Gigapack on a Multiplayer Lan game.

Honestly, I don't understand all the stats and how they work since this is the first time I've tried this so they are probably not balanced very well. Here's the Stat area, e.g. I can put on a Holy Cross, gives me 105 Faith:
Quote
// STATS        min     max     current
maxhealth   200
health   200
strength        0       200     100
dexterity       0       200     100
stamina         0       200     100
perception      0       200     100
intelligence    0       200     100
wits            0       200     100
bloodpool       0       2000    1000
blood           0       2000    1000
humanity        0       200     100
charisma        0       200     100
manipulation    0       200     100
appearance      0       200     100
frenzy          0       200     0
faith           0       200     100
generation      0       100     9
frenzyrating    0       100     0
bloodrating     0       100     1.0
manapool        0       1000    300
mana            0       1000    300

I tried the Equipment part as well but found you can't AutoEquip Unidentified Gear, so I just added them to the inventory, with some scrolls:
Quote
// ITEM         template        (main | belt | equip)
item            CuthbertLetter          belt
item            Broadsword      equip
item      studdedleather_holy   main
item      potionMana      belt
item      potionMajorHealth   belt
item      holyCross      main
item      Lighthelm_holy      main
item      Flambergeexq      main
item      Gauntlets_heavy      equip
item      Shield_holy      main
item      discScroll_SpiritsTouch_1 belt
item      discScroll_SpiritsTouch_1 belt
item      discScroll_SpiritsTouch_1 main
item      discScroll_SpiritsTouch_1 main
item      discScroll_SpiritsTouch_1 main

In regards to Disciplines I'm having trouble adding some, since unless your Caitiff it overwrites based on Clan. He's tied most of the Bloodlines females to Lily.NPC so you have to edit it for your changes to show up with your skin. I had to start reading his .Not files to figure that out, since there are no instructions.

So far all the work on the AoR and Gigapack mods looks amazing.  :drink:

That only works for single player or games where you're the host. If you set the stats too high it can cause problems.

Gtk, thanks. I was just testing and setting them to 100 was the easiest way to see if they would go higher, by adding almost any piece of stat boosting equipment.

As much as I like Coop, I doubt I'll ever play on a p2p.

Can you still stack numerous items in an individual slot or did that get changed for AoR?

...not being able to stack unidentified items might make stat boosting through stacking redundant anyway I suppose.

Edit you could increase your soaks by stacking armour nomexsuit for fire and studdedleather for elec. you could boost your strength to god levels by stacking a lot of giantsblood potion in the item slots and drinking them before battle...

Or you could use the SDK to create a ring that does all that and wear it while playing the game..

_Master_ someone was able to make a mod to allow Stacking, really? If you recall the name I would like to know.

Thanks.    :vampwink:

It was probably a bug you just edited the file with a text editor.
For example

item      tailoredArmor      equip
item      tailoredArmor      equip
item      tailoredArmor      equip
item      tailoredArmor      equip
item      tailoredArmor      equip
item      tailoredArmor      equip
item      tailoredArmor      equip

And you were wearing 7 tailored armors. Back then you could stack any item, it was common practice to stack invis cloaks for example. If thats changed then its likely AoR wont allow you to stack...

Oh, damn that's a pretty weird bug 7 armors, hehe.

Well, seems I was wrong about the stats, can't use the level up past 100, thought editing the file would allow it, too bad.

I'm having problems with AoR, in that I started a Lan game, made a save but don't see any way to load it. When I start a new game and try to load it, Revive is grayed out. Plus if I make a new  save while, then try to load, while still in the  game, Revive is still grayed out.

Is there a way to use a different skin in Single Player?

Thanks.

If you want to increase stats with a stack:
gauntletPower will increase attack strength
gauntletDodge will make you harder to hit
gauntletAccuracy will make you more accurate
monacleClarity will make it possible to see cloaked enemies
cloakShadow will make you invisible
heartShield prevents being staked

If it's just for single player creating/editing a custom weapon/item would be better.

Gtk, thanks Paine. Great idea about just making a custom weapon to add any effect needed. Need to read the Mod Tutorial on editing weapons, since it eliminates the need for Stacking, which sounds like it causes problems.

I just hoped/thought editing the NPC would allow using the CS to increase Attrib and Skill points incrementally past 100.

Is there anyway to Load a Multiplayer Savegame or has AoR disabled it? I can save a game, see it but not load it.

I'm thinking of giving up on AoR since I can't get Save/Loading to work, anyone know if using a different skin in Single Player is possible?

Thanks for any tips.

I can save you the time learning to use the SDK for sp and make you a weapon/armour/shield/ring whatever if you tell me what you want it to do. It'd be a pleasure to do an old school clan pack.

The limitations are with the SDK you can affect your charactor but to make a weapon that affects an enemy or to do fancy visual effects you need a class file. I can do simple things with a class file and more if I steal Paine and Javokis' scripts but anything wildly complex is beyond me.

The offer is on the table

Thanks _Master_ for the info and offer!

Actually just finished my first weapon after following Javokis' great tutorial, started on it last night after that post.
