Where would you hide?
« on: January 29, 2014, 04:30:12 AM »
If you were to somehow overpower the need to find/redeem Anezka, where would you go?
What would you do?

I would use my natural charisma to convince Wilhelm that the Brujah and Cappadocian clans were in the best position to work together to unravel the mysteries of the Cainite curse.  The Cainite Heresy.  In particular, I would choose to spend my nights in Garinold's library, at its deepest levels, in the same room where he contained the secrets of the Skull of the Lamia.  Think about it: this room contained 3 different levels of books, filled with ancient secrets that reeked of wisdom and prophecies of terrible, unknown merit.  To throw these away?

Christoff, you fool.

What have you done?

I would go kill the fat bishop from the begining, don't remember his name. His church might make a good hideout. But of course, Christof is far too righteous to think of killing a bishop, even if he is a bastard.

If i were in Christof boots, i would think that this all jyhad's soldier business is not very profitable and would go elsewere to start over as a mercenary or something alike. But Christof is far too righteous to think about that too.

Are we talking about ourselves, or what we think Christof would do if he got over Anezka?

For Christof... If he had listened to Ecaterina about being concerned for Humanity, but not so much for actual humans, I bet he would've taken up with his sire and Wilhelm in the Promethean cause. Maybe with his help, they could've fought off the Tzimisce during the Night of Fire (a.k.a. the revolt in Prague when Christof returns after Vienna) and maybe saved the existence of that Carthage Brujah guy whose name I can never remember.
After that... Between giving up his moral compass' north (Anezka) and seeing how Ecaterina and Wilhelm were leaning, he probably would've ended up in the Sabbat, but been one of the "nicer" Sabbat. If Ecaterina was Archbishop of New York, Christof undoubtedly would've been her paladin. Let Wilhelm run around leading a pack as a Bishop or ductus.
On the other hand... Giving up a moral compass' north is a severe blow. Christof probably would've converted to one of the more violent Paths of Enlightenment and drowned himself in making war (since the poor sop never got to make love). I could see him eventually challenging the other Promethean Brujah in this order: the Carthage Brujah guy whose name I can never remember, Ecaterina, and then finally turning on Wilhelm after Wilhelm expressed one too many disagreeable thoughts. Even as a neonate, Christof bucked against Ecaterina's authority, so it would only be a matter of time before it grew into thoughts of matricide and diablerie. Personally, I think given the World of Darkness setting and what Christof has to go through to get back Anezka, the "evil" ending of Redemption is the most likely one.

As to what *I* would do... I would've been smart from the beginning and been Embraced by Ahzra the Unliving or another suitably-designated scion of Vukodlak, been on the winning side, probably eaten Orsi and taken his place, smacked Ardan for being a Tremere, won the Omen War, served diligently for eight-hundred years... and been eaten as the replacement midnight snack when Vukodlak awoke.
It's not a pretty fantasy, but as far as fantasies go, it's a likelier one.
"Anezka? Oh, you mean that pretty chick who wouldn't let me do her? Yeah, I remember her... No wonder I have this repressed attraction to nuns! HEY AHZRA! GO GET YOUR NUN OUTFIT!"
Hey, what's fleshcrafting for, anyway?

EDIT
Cosmas, that's it. Cosmas.

I saw there was an update on this page, so I clicked it. Then I saw I had already responded. Then I thought of another way Christof might've reacted.

Christof's original goal in the very beginning of the game (i.e., in the introductory cutscene) was to return to his military unit, the Sword Brethren, and persecute the Crusade in Eastern Europe. If Anezka was removed as a viable goal, and he continues to dislike the way Ecaterina does things, I could see him trying to seek out his Sword Brethren again and ghouling his old captain in order to get back into the ranks. Or at least follow them from a distance and help them out if it looks like they're getting stabbed in the face too much. I bet he'd sneak into camp at night and feed his blood to wounded soldiers, just like our character did in Bloodlines to save Heather.
His captain and old unit would heal faster and more cleanly than any soldier in the Dark Ages had a right to, which would undoubtedly be interpreted as a blessing from God, thus driving them to continue the crusade beyond any reasonable bounds. And Christof would be okay with that, because he doesn't really have anything else to live for, and no other allegiances.
He still would've interfered with the Tzimisce or Tremere sooner or later (probably upsetting the course of the Omen War while he was at it), but been without the support of the Prometheans or a coterie, so... Yeah. He could easily have ended up as Vukodlak's throne after all.

And now I want to play Redemption. You just had to go and update this thread.

Wasn't the Crusade in Eastern Europe basically just another part of the vampiric Jyhad?

These actually sound like cool ideas for the next phase of Age of Redemption mod. My very goal with changing the mod over the coarse of a year or two is to add new depth to the quests and give the player some additional choices in not being fixated solely on Anezka who was causing a serious derailing on some very important Wod elements going on around him. Age of Redemption plans to have two chronicles; one for vanilla, another for enhanced content, side quests, and new features.

I would probably assasinate Ecatherine for forcefull embrace against my will. Then I'd probably lure in the night and evade wrath of Wilhelm and possibly other avengers (if there are any). Becoming a vampire vampire hunter is what I'd aim. No diabelaire. Just wrecking havoc in their nights.

If you look at the character of Christof, you would see the significance of Anezka in his development and overall usage of his powers: she provided him with hope and an anchor so he could retain his humanity in the age where you would easily lose it. Frankly, I could not picture Christof without the existence of Anezka... it would be as if there were no Beatrice for Dante - she completes Christof where you would brush him off as a simple crusader.
