  •                 I recently bought the game and installed it, it came with patch 1.1 and I haven't installed anything else. I went to won.net and downloaded the account wizard and made a won account. But whenever I try to log onto the internet multiplayer in the game it always says Server Returned Error. Needless to say that error doesn't help me at all in fixing the problem. I'm on a router but as far as I know it shouldn't block games. It's a SpeedStream 2510 for anyone who might know how to fix it with a mini walkthrough reply for me. Also, I was wondering if there's a way to run the game in windowed mode. And yet another problem I have is that whenever the window is minimized, whether through instant messages or alt+tab it closes the game completely. Is there a way to fix any of these problems. Thank anyone who reads this for your time, and special thanks to anyone who can help.

Issue 1: "Server returned an error"
The game cannot communicate with the WON server because your firewall and/or router IS preventing it from doing so.  You must allow DirectPlay (the network component of DirectX) to communicate on TCP and UPD ports 27960.

Issue 2: "Running the game in a window instead of fullscreen"
I've never heard of a DirectX graphics engine that supports windowed games.  This is accomplished easily in OpenGL engines like Quake, but VTMR is DirectX-based.

Issue 3: "Game crashes when changing windows"
This is probably an issue with your video card.  In your post you did not specify which operating system and video card you are using, so all I can tell you is to search for updated video drivers.

How do I go about allowing my game to connect? IE some step by steps would help in configuring my firewall.

I've never used a SpeedStream router, so I cannot provide step-by-step instructions.  However, most modern routers provide you with a web interface to allow customizations.  This is usually done by opening your web browser and typing in http://192.168.0.1  or something like that to access the router's settings.  This is assuming that your router is also a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses to all of the computer on your LAN.  Once you get into the Router management intranet site, you will need to go to the firewall management section.  A lot of routers provide built-in recognition of battle.net and GameSpy Arcade/Arena but you will probably have to create a new one for WON.net.  For this connection you will need to specify that it uses TCP and UDP ports 27960 and 27980.  You'll also need to allow public queries, otherwise you will be able to join others' games but they won't be able to join yours.

I 'THINK' I get the UPD TCP thing, but I don't see anything on here that says Allow Public Queries. Though I've had the problem of people not being able to see my games for quite some time. Please help if you can, like if there's any other technical names that option might go under. I'm really Technologically Illiterate. =/

I hate to be so blunt, but if you don't understand a technical tool, you shouldn't be using it.  In the case of firewalls, disabling it due to a lack of understanding is not very wise, SO....
A quick search on Amazon turned up
     Firewalls for Dummies.
