Bloodlines Modding / Re: Giovanni, Nadia, last broken scrpting in Bloodlines, help.

Here's a quick save, just after zoning into the basement. I walked Nadia down the ramps, then went back to fight the armed Giovanni and didn't kill any unarmed. Malkavian 9.8 BUP.

I never heard that before. There were some unused disciplines some of which we restored and some others that were planned, but not made, but all of them are far away from the PnP disciplines anyway, because as fas as I know the whole setup there is much more complicated and would be far too much for a computer game. Like all the different Thaumaturgy paths...
What ones did they plan and not make?

On that note, someone did mention before (Wesp might be able to confirm if this came from the developers or elsewhere), but it turns out disciplines were also toned down across the board in the game since the player mostly fights and interacts with mortals during the game, which honestly makes it slightly more difficult to apply book lore to the situation given this stated change.

I get the feeling the developers of VTMB at one point considered scrapping the theme of the game even being set in the cWoD universe and just becoming a plain, non-thematic vampire world game, but decided to continue on with the same theme.

I don't believe that for one minute! I bet Activision had to pay a lot for the WoD licence and Troika has integrated it quite well, even up to using famous characters like Jack or Beckett. This would all make no sense in some generic vampire setting.

Agreed. Of course there have to be some rules changes and simplifications for a computer game, but basically Bloodlines is VtM. So if the game doesn't explicitly says otherwise, you can apply book-lore.

The reason I say so is since there are many deviations from the books and some discrepancies that would have moved the game toward a more generic vampire theme.

But that said, it's still in cWoD regardless of changes in plans or not, so the book lore still applies to it otherwise.

Bloodlines Modding / Re: DDS plugin?
« Last post by FleshArtist on September 23, 2017, 10:13:49 AM »
Paint.net has a built in DDS plugin I believe, but it's not as effective as GIMP, at least in my perspective as far as the actual texturing goes. I was forced to use paint.net temporarily when GIMP started crashing at program launch on an old computer, and you couldn't get as much done with it, even if it is a little more stable. I have the DDS plugin for GIMP so if you'd like, I can send it to you in an attachment and you would only need to install it in Users/gimp.2.8.

Alternatively, you could work with both simultaneously by texturing an image in GIMP, then converting it in paint.net which should do just fine, even if it's a little less convenient.

No, you are applying book-lore on Bloodlines, that should not be done

Why not? I've yet to hear a compelling reason.

in Bloodlines the 13th generation is thinblood

Says who? Generation is never mentioned in Bloodlines.

and your character is 12th generation.

Again, Generation is never mentioned in Bloodlines. The only indication of the PC's Generation is their blood pool, which IIRC holds 13 blood points: making them 10th Generation, not 12th.
You're right, generation is not mentioned in the game but there are remains of a generation system left in the files. Bloodpool, attribute limits etc. All, at least to my limited knowledge, according to the original VtM rules.
Btw, the bloodpool is 15. That would make you 8th generation.

I had this happen to me recently too, but I figured it was just an unintended a side effect of stacking Blood Shield with Protean.

In first-person you can tell that the shield is no longer active, because you don't have that weird blood haze at the edges of the screen anymore. Some actions will "reset" your appearance. I think hitting a wall with my katana did it once.

And in Dark Ages a 13th generation was not considered Thinblood, because Thinblood is not a state of consideration, it is a physical thing, if 13th generation was Thinblood, it would be everywhere, in all times. It is such a great distance from Caine that the vampiric powers no longer present themselves and you have a very weak form of vampirism.

You don't need to correct me on the particulars of how the tabletop rules work. Please see my signature.

It is true that vampires in the Dark Ages considered the 13th Generation to be thin-blooded. The "Thin Blood" Flaw specifically mentions it. That is no longer the case by the modern era, either because 13th Gen vampires have become more commonly accepted culturally, or because something has changed with the blood itself.

Now after completing some more Hollywood quests, including Kings Way but not the rest of the warrens, I returned to the cemetery and Romero's shack is closed.

Can you noclip in to see if he is there or missing as well?
He is there and talks to me.

On VV's quest I emptied the ATM, then picked the lock to the backstage room and Kerry was already standing there even though I hadn't yet shutdown the peepshow.

Don't they do regular breaks without all patrons gone?
According to the scripts they should only go on break if both customers are gone.
