You must be a difficult man to please then, Wesp5.

No, I'm just curious. Besides that they don't use Unity 5 yet, there is a lot of difference between the demos Unity and Unreal create and what normal folks can do with it. As I said, I haven't played many Unity games yet, but there was none better looking than Source!

Now that you mention Stephen, he was on the forum a day or so ago, Wesp5.

That's great. Maybe the rumors floating around are not as serious then...

Nonsense, there are plenty of wonderful an example of the splendid craftsmanship done when using the Unity 4 engine. Anna (video-game),  Republic (2013) are among but a few esteemed titles employing the engine. It is very important to remember that Bloodlines is the byproduct of a defunct version of the Source engine, and that no customer support is offered to the fan-base of the game through an official channel. We're alone, Wesp5. Another installment won't be considered for sometime — if at all.

I seriously doubt that an outdated beta engine from 2004 will look aesthetically better than a fresh, cutting-edge engine of today. Your fear is somewhat understandable, but there is a limit.

You may be confident that corporate over at CCP and White Wolf have moved forward: the Classical World of Darkness is finished and has been for sometime now. Now, it's you and a hardcore fan-base that cling to the game, but most of the casual gaming population—that isn't into RPG—have gravitated toward more recent franchises, to-be-sure.

Also, you and I are nothing more than bystanders whenever it means the workload. If you cannot aid the progress of the actual game, then it is useless to complain about much. It certainly does not matter if they change the HUD or the loading screen — they only need to complete the project. Whatever course they decide to implement you may rest assured it will be the best for the sake and longevity of the game. Because, if you want the game to be around another decade it will eventually have to change and remain competitive, or else people will grow bored and move on with their lives.

I have to reiterate what Atrblizzard had previously noted before I mention anything else: the work is a gift to a veteran community, but not a soul is being compensated for their effort, beside maybe a nice gesture of appreciation. That said, if a member of the project isn't willing to commit to the project we will not be liable to force them to continue their task.

Stephen was on these forums a few days ago, but he hasn't seemed to post anything on what his predicament may be. What rumors have you heard, Wesp5?

I didn't know about these and I'm into FPS and similar games only. The Unity games I played, Deus Ex The Fall and Among The Sleep, were not better looking that the alpha Source engine that Bloodlines is using.

I disagree. If they change the game too much for example, the old community may not accept it. Just look at how the Thief fans reacted to Thief 4! But I agree with you that the most important thing is that they finish the project. At least three attempts to recreate Bloodlines already failed!

Basically what Atrblizzard wrote here: "After the project was coming along nicely, Stephen had disappeared, which meant I had to take over everything, and since then it was only Teemu and me constantly working on it. A lot of the progress you've seen in those videos remained out of reach. Since we didn't know what happened to him for a very long time, all those progress were lost on my end." I don't know what actually happened to him...

Go ahead and do a quick search for the game trailers, Wesp5. I'm sure you will find your opinion changed. Try checking-out the new Unity 5 engine, too.

I have never played Thief or the expansion set, nor do I give a damn about it.

Frankly, the game won't please everyone—we're already bearing witness to that point—and they don't all have to play the game. If you don't like it, you can choose to opt-out and play the original. I have not seen anyone else dedicate the time and effort to revitalizing the game more than Project Vauldeire. The fact is, is that without the success of the project I doubt we shall have a fraction of the same fan-base another decade from now.

You might have a point if they made Jeanette Voerman into an African-American Iraq war veteran with an eye-patch and stained yellow teeth, but the reality is vastly divergent. They're implementing minor adjustments to infuse the game with a certain pzazz. I find it difficult to swallow that changing something trivial, like the HUD or the color-scheme, would compel people to quit the game. It would be totally ridiculous and indignant of them!

Why not attempt messaging him? I thought about it, but certainly you would get a response.

I never had any contact with him, but someone else here on Planet Vampire had. It's up to him or Stephen or Atrblizzard though to say what happened if they think they need to.

I guess all that is left to do now is wait a month.
