By half-assed I mean these elements weren't even executed any well, did not have any individuality, and did not bring anything useful into the music. The Linkin' Park vocalist himself was kinda meh if compared to ones from other prominent bands, but, at least, possessed a certain flare and was an integral part of the deal. Did we really need a mock Chester here? I don't think so. Now, if that guy was something on the level of Disturbed vocalist, I would think differently, but it would be challenging to integrate them. Even on Evanescence songs, these Linkin' Park rapping vocals sound out of place, despite it being a nu-metal/alternative act. Now, imagine what it will take to mix them into a europower music. It's of no wonder they've ulimately scrapped the idea, otherwise it would require drastic changes, and won't even appeal to Evanescence audience in the end.

Translating Evanescence style into a full-on power metal was a viable idea for the reason that this band was an attempt to make an American Nightwish and Tristania in one bottle, they borrowed so much from power / gothic / doom metal that rap vocals stopped working here (despite the nu metal style). Therefore, doing it right would defeat the purpose.
There's an Old Routes - New Waters '2016 EP, they re-recorded some songs from first two albums, Lost included. Here, unlike the original, male vocals are recitative-like, but not rapping by any means, and it really works. Yep, they've propered what Evanescence were originaly trying to do.

Visions of Atlantis - 2016 - Lost

Well, I think the beauty of art is the possibility to experiment with different styles, approaches and so on. Ok, many times some experiments didn't worked and won't work at all. But many other innovations born here. Not considering the problem of the imposition to adapt to a capitalistic world (or surviving it's pressures to who want to be out of it) but for that there's so immediate solution.

One thing I love is finding are the most unexpected experiments (for example this hip-hop/black metal fusion). Yes, rarely those work, but most cases provide lots of wtf moments, even if only for an epic laugh.

David Bowie - 1995 - 1.Outside: The diary of Nathan Adler or the art-ritual murder of Baby Grace Blue.

This is a concept album that was meant to be listened as a whole, and the cover art with a short story that provides an artistic excursus into 90's b(lo)ody art is an essential part of it. The style could be described as art-pop with an industrial / generative music inspired sound.
An example: 03 - Hearts Filthy Lesson

Interestingly enough, I've foreseen the whole damn plot right from the start, it took no more than a short intro and pictures, before even reading further or listening, and already had deemed David Bowie my spirit-relative (c), only to realise that actually I'm a such of the main villain instead. Came to the same conclusion as a hero, for polar opposite reasons.

I don't know if folks here are aware of Music from the Succubus Club, the official VTM soundtrack as it were. Each song represents a clan:

The Crüxshadows - "Deception" (Ravnos)
Seraphim Shock - "Prey" (Lasombra)
Paralysed Age - "Bloodsucker 2000" (Tzimisce)
Wench - "Heart of Darkness" (Followers of Set)
Sunshine Blind - "Cold From Fever" (Ventrue)
Bella Morte - "Fall No More" (Gangrel)
Carfax Abbey - "Soul To Bleed" (Malkavian)
Beborn Beton - "Hemoglobin" (Assamite)
Mission U.K. - "Last Beat of Your Heart" (Brujah)
Kristeen Young - "Rotting On The Vine" (Nosferatu)
Nosferatu - "The Night Is Young" (Giovanni)
Diary of Dreams - "Blind in Darkness" (Tremere)
Neuroactive - "Superficial" (Toreador)
Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
But stranger still is
Lost Carcosa.

Thank you for this. They really hit the concepts or the soul of each clan quite brilliantly. I especially love Malkavian, Tzimisce and Giovanni ones.

Despite I feel I'm a born torrie I enjoyed only the gangrel song. And since the booklet states a fictional dj discovered each vampire of a clan react positively on what he identified as their signature song my theory this might also work on the players when choosing the clan to play went to the dogs....

That's funny, because I consider myself a Torrie as well and that's one of my least favourite songs on that list.  I like Tremere, Ravnos, Gangrel, Nosferatu and Followers of Set instead.

Well that is the beauty of art, it can enthrall your soul with its splendor or it can bore you to death, so to speak.

Lol, it looks like the gallery mod I installed last night as I was dozing off fixed the auto embed issue in the forum. Idk if there is a setting to fix the scaling of the embeds, but I'm tempted not to f with it lol. I tried every free mod available and all gave the error that an extension was blocking the video from playing. The gallery mod was part of a $200 package I purchased. I'm glad it seems to have resolved this, as it was bothering the crap out of me, such a relief.

Edit: Sam fixed it on the server side, so it is he who deserves all the credit.

I would be pissed too if I spend 200$ on something an it doesn't work (or don't know why it doesn't)
