Everything Farscape
« on: May 30, 2020, 11:36:22 pm »
Since I joined this forum I've seen there are many fans of the old scifi tv series Farscape.  So I decided to start a thread so we don't derail topics talking about the show, and yeah I know I've been creating a lot of topics.  I'm just bored due to the quarantine.

Anyway here is my top list:

Favorite Character:  Hard to pick just one but I choose Ka D'Argo.

Favorite Villain: Scorpius followed by Crais.

Favorite Ship: Talyn

Favorite Episode:  Into the Lions Den (Season 3 Finale.)

Worst Episode:  Bad Timing (Because it was the Series Finale.)

If possible try not to add spoilers.  Not everyone saw the show when it was on the SciFi channel.

FUCK. YES.

Crichton's women approve of this topic:

I hope it's not much to ask but if possible try to keep spoilers limited for Season 4 and Peacekeeper Wars. I just finished watching "John Quixote" so that's where I am at currently.

But honestly, what a fucking brilliant show. It was so weird and bizarre and yet super intriguing and exciting. Here goes my list:

Favorite Character: My favorite is probably Crichton but I do want to give some love to my boy Rygel because he was a brilliantly amoral piece of shit and probably one of the best puppets I've ever seen.

Favorite Villain: Scorpius no doubt, he's just such a hatefully brilliant bastard. Every episode where he appeared was just a new scheme of his to try to get the wormhole tech. Nevermind the brilliant talent of Wayne Pygram to also play Harvey as the comedic counterpart of Scorpius.

Favorite Ship: Probably Moya. I always loved how inherently defenseless she was. Every problem or issue they had was a struggle to escape or dodge the enemies; they could never fight back with phasers or rockets. They always had to figure out an escape.

Favorite Episode: Difficult to choose, for now I will pick "A Human Reaction" because I loved its beautiful ending.

Worst Episode: "Taking the Stone", probably the first time I ever thought "this shit is pointless" in a Farscape episode

Added the no spoliers disclaimer in the original post.  As for your picks good choices.  Though I forgot what those two episodes you listed were about.  Oh and how can I forget about Harvey!  I agree Wayne Pygram is a good actor.  Too bad Hollywood never recognized his talent.  I know aside from Ben Browder (Crichton) the cast is from Australia so maybe he achieved stardom over there.

Rygel is one my of top favorite characters in the show.  They're all good characters it's really hard to choose one.

It was difficult for me to choose between Moya and Talyn.  I picked Talyn cause he was all attitude from the start.

I wonder if most of them had issues finding work in the states because of the heavy makeup that their roles involved. It might be difficult to recognize an actor from one role to the other when they look completely alien from one production to the next.

I never gave a fuck, personally. I always loved the way Gigi Edgley acted the shit out of Chiana. She always did a body acting performance with her character that I've only seen on people like Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth, Star Trek Discovery). Extremely talented people on Farscape.

It was difficult for me to choose between Moya and Talyn.  I picked Talyn cause he was all attitude from the start.
He was also a source of fantastic drama for the show. I loved it when the show divided itself between the "Moya adventures" and the "Talyn adventures" in Season 3.

Oh boy, it's gonna be really hard talking without spoilers about the show :58_83:  !

I know you're not a fan of the prequels but in Revenge of the Sith towards the end, when Vader and Palpatine are overseeing the construction of the Death Star.  The guy standing by Palpatine before Vader approaches is Tarkin played by Wayne Pygram.  He's only shown for a few seconds and from a distance.  But he's listed in the credits.

As for spoilers I will add the disclaimer again and end all my posts in this thread with it.

Once again please refrain from posting spoilers.

I did not recognize him either when I saw the movie the first time, since I never seen him without makeup.  But I remember people talking about his role as Tarkin in the movie.  But I did look up the info and it was him.  It's a shame Disney did not hire him to replay Tarkin in Rogue One.

Please do not post Farscape spoilers.

Edit:  Changed favorite character to Ka D'argo.  I really liked him when I watched the show.

After my last post I bought the first season of the show from ITunes.  I plan to buy and rewatch all the episodes.  This show just too good to watch just once.

Good frelling morning y'all, I share with thee this little video that was responsible for me getting into Farscape. It's from a scottish youtuber called Rowan J Coleman who makes great videos about what he refers to as "The Golden Age of Sci-Fi TV", this one being about our dear beloved series. Enjoy it !

You know when the show ended there was a big campaign started in the US and Europe to bring it back.  There were people who wanted to support another season financially.  Eventually the creators of the show made 'The Peacekeeper Wars' mini series.

But that was a nice video you linked Highwayman667.

China, Zaan and Scorpius are my favorite characters. Moya is the best ship in the universe (apart from the Tardis of course) and Scorpius is also my favorite villain. He is the Hannibal Lecter of this universe - intelligent and calculating and always a few steps ahead.
As for episodes, I really love the three parter, we're they try to rob that shadow depot and have to align with old enemies.

You're forgetting about a couple of Star Trek ships there  :funny:  !

But the Shadow Depot (deposit?) had it all: trickery, deceit, Rygel, shootouts, Crichton VS Scorpius. A legendary heist.

As a fan of Mass Effect this show is rather illuminating on where the influences for such games came.

The Shadow Depot episode you two are talking about.  Is that the season 2 finale?  If so I agree that was a great episode.

Yes, that was the season 2 Finale.

I don't really count non living ships, so the Star Trek ships do nothing for me, but Moya, Talyn and the Tardis are living ships with personality.
The only non living ship with a personality is for me Serenity

We can certainly say that we've never seen something like Moya & Talyn. What those two ships have in common is absolutely unique.

That was another reason why I loved and still love the show.  Moya!  I love the fact that she is a living ship.  I also like that Zaan and Pilot have a bond with her.  The show is just great.  It is a shame the network canceled the show.
