Describe your ideal vampire game
« on: May 24, 2022, 11:11:31 am »
If you could have any game you want get made, what would be your ideas ?

What genre ? Roleplaying game, or Action RPG, or something different ?

Would it be offline/single player ? Multiplayer ? Or even a MMO ? Or maybe a rpg editor to make own levels ?

What system ? Masquerade ? Requiem ? Something else ? A Mix ? Something completely independent ?

How would you progress in the game ? Just like in VtMB and VtMR ?

If its Masquerade, would it allow Diablerie ? Would it allow joining something else than Camerilla ? Could you play as a lone wolf ?

Which clans would you implement and how ? Would there even be clans in the first place ?

Would it be a storydriven game ? Or would it be a sandbox ? Or a mix ?

How linear would it be ? Would it be open world ?

Could you create your own character ? Or would it be from a list of predefined characters ? Is there a detailed editor to create an own and unique look, or is there a limited set of choices, or maybe even only one model per clan and gender ?

Would you have a group of characters ? Or play as one character ? Or play multiple characters, but only one at a time ? Something else ?

Would it play in one specific time, like modern days or mediveal times or ancient times, or would you progress though all these ages ?

Etc

Mmmh, how about a story that unfolds over centuries of Machiavellian plotting between three vampires which ends with a mexican standoff in modern days? Just a stupid idea....

Read 400 times, only one answer ... apparently even among the users in this forum, nobody wants a new vampire game.

My personal ideal vampire game would actually be a classic fantasy MMORPG in which you can also turn your character into a werewolf, vampire, lich, and possibly even more. Mostly really because there is no really good classic fantasy MMORPG out there.

I would definitely NOT want it to be based on any White Wolf system, because I dont like it when games are limited by a license. Make it something independent and original instead. Pick maybe ideas up you like, but add your own stuff.

For example I'd like the idea of having a head vampire that can attain a lot of vampire dolls that do their bidding. So the player would get a lot of npcs if they go vampire. As a lich as well, though then it would be classic undead, like skeletons and mummies.

Idea:

You can play the game as normal, as you do in any classic fantasy MMORPG, but then your character ages and, at some point, dies. Maybe after two years of playing. With a random factor.

Or you can turn your character into some form of undead.

At that point you probably want a lot more than just vampires as an option though. Each with their own advantages and drawbacks.

And if a player lets their character die instead of turning them into some kind of undead, they should probably be allowed to have a followup character that gets benefits from being the "heir" of the previous character. Like faster leveling, better skills and attributes, maybe gear passed down to them when they reach the appropiate level.

One night ago I had this crazy dream where Wesp, after completing his Unofficial Patch once and for all, decided to mod Arcanum in order to make a Vampire: Dark Ages story.... Does it count?

I'm a first person view guy, I rarely play third person if anything. But how about somebody remakes Arcanum in the Source engine using assets from Dark Messiah? Or creates a Vampire Dark Ages game out of that?

I don't know, I haven't even played Dark Messiah. But an Arcanum remake will be always welcome....

A deus style game that tries to emulate the ttrpg experience in a semi sandbox game. You would have acess to all the stats like in the ttrpg and would be able to specialise in many different viable paths. There would be a more developped dialogue tree (like LA noir and swansong) and options that make a pure social character viable. Allowing players to get other npc to do task for you and let you fundamentally change the city by expending ressources/politicking. Each major sect would have sub factions that you can align yourself with and ensure they become the dominant ideology in their sect, which would affect the story.  There would be a system that would allow you to create your own domain and manage it which gives you bonuses/ influence over the city and the npc.

You would have acess to all 13 clans and unique disciplines. It would allow up to 5 players to play in the same game to compete and cooperate. Diablerie will also be in the game.  As you can see it is something that very achievable and not overly ambitiousat all.

A game where you can play a purely social character and let others do the dirty work sounds awesome.

I once read that Planescape: Torment can be solved with only two battles. Hmm, I still should have the disk of that somewhere.
