Please post your biographies, character summarys here, as well as your suggestions and ideas. As the title goes, this will be the discussion thread for the Thief fanfic.

 Character summaryp/b]
 ---------------------
 Name: Cassandra (Cassie) "Crox" Cullingham

Nickname: Cassie, to friends, or Crox to outsiders (a deviation of the word "Crow", after the raven-colored bird)

 Age: 21

Appearance: Long black hair in slight curls, stormy grey eyes. Cassandra appears attractive to most men, but they mostly shy away from her sharp, hard-edged gaze. Average height, slender formed. Strong enough for her own weight, but nothing more than that. Her most distinguishing feature is a three-inch scar cutting across the left side of her forehead, just above her eyebrow. When it comes to clothes, she is a chameleon, never appearing in the same outfit on two consecutive days. Unlike most people in this profession, her hands are not clad in gloves, but bound in black-dyed strips of cloth, around the palms and only at the fingertips, leaving the rest of her fingers bare. On her left hip, she wears a curious trinket made of a crow's feather and a few glass beads, attached to a bit of leather string that dangles from the belt around her hips.

Distinguishing Skills/Weaponry: A longbow, altered to fit her slender frame and girl's height. A quiverful of normal broadhead arrows, plus a small bundle of water and rope ones. A club, a nondescript dagger about half an arm's length. A coil of rope. A few potions. All this in a small leather knapsack strapped across her back.

Summary: A wealthy merchant's daughter, yet strangely detached from her privileged life. Cassandra is aloof, reserved, and coldly hostile to the general public, often appearing to exist in her own universe. She does not steal for a living, but sees it as a personal achievement...a private interest, as she would put it. She lives alone for the moment, in a goodly-furnished apartment somewhere in the City, a benevolent gift from her father. Not surprisingly, her parents, too busy in their own world, prefer to leave Cassandra to her own indulgences. After all...she appears to be no more than a regular maiden on the verge of an independent life. Or so it seems.

People seldom believe what they cannot see.

Made this bad boy up on the spot, cunsulting random Thief lore as i did so.

 Name: unknown

 Nickname: Fade

 Age: 27

Appearance: Tall (6'0") and thin. Lithely muscular. His long but attractive face seems to have been cursed with perpetual 5 o' clock shadow. He dresses all in dark, form fitting clothes, a hood (a la Garrett) and fingerless gloves.

Equipment: Keeps a small 1 room apartment in the Docks District. Carries a climbing rope, a long stiletto dagger for those stelthy kills, a blackjack, several thowing knives hid strategically about his person, a sword for when "diplomacy fails", soft boots for walking silently, a set of lock-picks, a dagger for cutting purses, flash bombs, gas bombs, oil flasks, and whatever else he thinks he might need for a heist. What a boyscout, ey?

Personality: Upbeat and sarcastic. Fade is quick with a quip and quicker with a dagger. Doesn't sweat the small stuff, and like all theives, his eyes are biger than his pockets. Don't let the cheery demeanor fool you. He is not only a thief, but an assassin as well(anything for gold).

Summarized History: Ex-Keeper. Friend of Garrett. Left the order shortly after he did (for reason's unknown to any save himself) to pursue similar interests. Has aquired a small amount of fame in the City, though nothing to rival Garrett's reputation of course.

Greatest Heist to Date: Cleared out the vault of the cities Custom's Office (Docks) in 7 minutes, alone, without beening seen or heard. Had to filter the take through three fences to move it all.

So, will there be more people joining? My character's fixer/contact/equipment provider -concept doesn't make much sense if the City only has two thieves tongue

Name: Lucius (common folk rarely have a last name)

 Nick: Craftsman

 Age: 34-ish

Appearance: I could draw you a picture with words... or I could just draw you a picture

As usual, I'm open for doing character sketches when I have the time.

Skills: Lucius never was a particularly brilliant burglar. What he lacks in natural talent, however, he makes up for with broad array of equipment. Due to years of specialization, he has perfected the art of devising and constructing various tools useful in the thief trade.

Equipment: From a small backroom shop on the verge of the Docks district Lucius sells tools, weapons and information to a varied (if shady) clientele. Many of the more unique items he produces himself on order, while others are imported from outside the City.
On the rare occasion that he ventures into the night and gets his hands dirty himself, as the nickname suggests, Lucius utilizes an arsenal of flash bombs, gas bombs, tripwire traps, and similar gadgets. Thanks to contacts with herbalists and an alchemist he’s also stocked with healing concoctions as well as the occasional invisibility or speed potion. While he does carry a blade with him, he’s no master swordsman, which is fine, since a real professional doesn’t need to put holes in guards to succeed.

Summary: Once a moderately successful burglar, Lucius’ focus has shifted a bit from that path. Nowadays he mostly deals in supplying other, younger thieves, spies and assassins (from both sides of the law) with equipment. Usually he asks for hard currency in return, but occasionally money isn’t worth as much as a favor or information. His burglar escapades are few and far between now, but do happen occasionally. Due to his archeological fascination, Lucius is always interested in items or written knowledge from old ruins, buried temples, etc.

Excellent. Welcome to the thread, La. More players are always welcome, your addition will help give us opportunities for many paths in the story.

I'll take this chance to say that I am not always a good or strong storyteller in terms of plot development. Therefore I would hope that my players (Azrael & La at this time) will aid me in the development of this story. Please fell free to drop me a PM or simply write your ideas here in the Discussion thread and we can work things out.

 Happy Thieving!

Az, you should also take a step back and play through Thief 1 Dark Project & Thief 2 The Metal Age...I find their atmospheres are a lot better than TDS...or maybe I'm just old-school. wink

I hope there'll be more players, but it seems nobody else on PV plays Thief other than us..heheh.

Ok guys, there's a couple of things I need to iron out before we move on:

 1. Azrael, the figure which emerges from Lucius' shop as you are watching is not going to be Crox. As indicated in my post, it's one of Lucius' customers, which means Crox will end up late...because apart from purchasing a few items, she intends to question Lucius about Constantine, any background info he might have...since Fade hasn't told her anything. What happens at this point is your dice, you can choose to continue waiting or barge in and demand why I'm late, etc....I leave it to you.

 2. La, if you're comfortable with it, I intend to make Lucius one of the major characters in our story. What else could it be? I think we would make a good trio. As you've said in your biography, Lucius is a man interested in ancient lore, so this would be a great opportunity to gain something out of the mission. Thing is...now you have to take my bait and let me question you on what or who Constantine is. Assuming you want to play along, you'll eventually end up joining us for the little jaunt to his place.

What do you think, guys? I thought I'd iron out a couple of things so we're all together on how the story unfolds.

Well, if you mean "dungeon" as in sneaking past zombies and all sorts of weird creatures, then yes...but it was still a lot of sneaking since Garrett didn't stand much of a fighting chance if he went in blade first.

Trust me...it's a lot different trying to sneak past zombies, Haunts and apemen compared to sneaking past human guards...

Hunh. I'd have thought more people played Thief here. Guess that's part of the reason why Looking Glass is no longer in business. Troika dejavu.

 My feelings exactly.

Yeah, DProject did focus more on exploration than burglary, but it made sense in light of the story, which I think was superior to both following installments (Metal Age is my personal favorite though).

Sure. PM me with the details.

 <quote by="Valoris">

Makes sense. Though he's just as likely to simply propose compensating your or Azrael's character for any interesting finds. Ah, but he doesn't even know about the plan yet. Let's just see where the story takes us :]

Now, I'd like to get some of my facts straight.

 1. We are talking about Constantine, so this means the story takes place before Dark Project, right?

 2. The above means it's pre-Mechanist-era, so there's no automated golems (or whatthehellever those walking fire ovens were called), or are there?

 3. How far are the Hammers involved in the City's affairs? They pretty much stuck to their temple & the prison in DP

 4. We definitely need Pagans, heh. But, again, they were almost non-existant in the City in DP, almost gone altogether in Metal Age, then back and more numerous than ever in DS. So, which era are we going along with?

 peace
