I spent the last several days consulting many WoD books, cross-referencing information, checking out pictures and maps, and performing other tedious tasks, culminating in 14 hours of writing up a background for Las Vegas, half of it I had to rewrite due to an untimely power outage in the middle of my work, only for me to scrap the whole damn thing in the end. I don't want to hear anything about how long I took to get this chronicle underway.

Ok I'm going to throw a lot of info at you at once so you may want to reread this a couple times and maybe Google for a map. Here's the setting: this is going to take place in New York City. The Camarilla hold Manhattan, the Anarchs hold Staten Island, and the Sabbat hold everything else (the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn). The Settites hold Morningside Park, Harlem, parts of Brooklyn, and most of South Bronx. The Giovanni don't hold much territory as they restrict themselves to only 6 of their own in all of NYC so as not to be imposing, but these 6 are highly influential in the city and hold a vast shipping business and owning the Hudson River in the Kindred world.

There are around 300 vampires in the city (a rather huge population for a city, but NYC has enough kine to support them all), half of which is Sabbat, the bulk of the other half is Camarilla, and the rest mostly Settite with a few scattered Giovanni and Ravnos. There are no known Assamites in NYC at this time. The Camarilla claim Manhattan as their own, but Manhattan probably contains more members of the Sabbat than the Camarilla has in its own membership. As far as big names go, you only know two upon entering (or being Embraced in) the city: Archbishop Polina (Sabbat) and Prince Michaela (Camarilla). You can (and will) find out more via role play. Exception: if you take the appropriate Backgrounds at Character Creation, I will PM you with more info on the city and who it involves. You may choose any side you wish at any time.

I'm taking a sandbox approach right now, so basically you can do what you want as a Kindred in the city. Build contacts, ensure a domain, join the Sabbat, join the Cam, be Independent, bed with mortals and Kindred alike, screw over mortals and Kindred alike, sing, dance, blow a few brains out-- do whatever you want, but you will reap the consequences of your actions (good or bad). Unlike the Club Scene, you are NOT immortal here. This will be run by the numbers and if you die, you die. I might fudge the dice if it is anticlimactic that one of the characters die, but don't count on it as I would only do it in an extenuating circumstances. In all other cases, your character dies and you can come back as a Wraith (maybe), bow out of the game, or start over by making a brand new character all over again.

I will take us down the main story later then bring us back to the sandbox, continue the story, sandbox, story, sandbox, and so on with each affecting each other. So much of this will be non-linear. This offers a greater amount of freedom than in the Club Scene while retaining a plot-driven story. Conversely, you lose your immunity to death (which makes the game more exciting), and you have to build your character (which is fun in itself) rather than start off as Elders with huge stats and older than the dirt they hide in.

That should get each of you well on your way for making a profile. Don't post your profile on the open boards. You don't want the other players to know your entire history. When you meet someone, you don't know every single detail about their past, you tell them about it as it come up in discussions. It is the exact same thing in RP and adds a bit of mystery to the individual characters. It's your choice, however, if you want to tell someone a few details about your past in-game through conversation. I also need to work with each you on stats in the Character Sheets, which may help you in your profile.

The Character Sheets will also be withheld from the open boards. I'll be awarding an additional 1-7 freebie points for each character at creation depending on how well written the bio is, loose ends for believable Storytelling hooks that I can use, believable history, canon info, etc. I was going to work with each of you individually as the Storyteller is supposed to present the circumstances of the Embrace, but I think that will be too tedious for all of us so I'll leave your entire human bio and Embrace to you guys. (Hint: Consult the Character Creation section in any of the WoD books for tips.)

In time, if or when we exhaust the details in conversation, we can post up our individual profiles. This is one of the reasons I'm awarding additional Freebies. I will be the only one who will be reading your profile and thus the only one who will witness your work, at least for a time. The reason I need to read your profiles is I need to know your backgrounds to better hook you into the story. Character Sheets, on the other hand, will be presented publicly shortly after we form a coterie (if we form a coterie).

*As a foot note, this chronicle will in all likelihood be very graphic, depicting scenes of explicit sexuality, gratuitous violence, debauchery and sickeningly twisted behavior, course language (for the hypocrites that don't care about what I previously mentioned but get hung up on cussing), and probably other things that will offend people yet insure that they can't take their eyes away.

No. I don't have a lot of free time. That was 14 hours over two days. I got 4 hours of sleep the first night I skipped sleeping entirely last night. Oh forgot to mention:

The maximum number of players in this chronicle is 4, and as of now, here is the roster:

     Slayden
     Valoris
     Azrael il Toreador
     arathalion

The chronicle takes place today, and your link is wrong. I'm getting my info right from New York by Night.

  •                 Hold up. Don't write anything yet. I'm having some troubles at home.

There is an event in New York by Night where the Camarilla grows in power, but I won't say by how much. The exact date this takes place is up to the Storyteller, but it's really a minimum of the year 2000.

Oh and there was never a Prince de Luca... anywhere. The Prince of Manhattan is Prince Michaela.

The Gangrel have left the Camarilla, but there are a few that remain. These few have to work twice as hard as before to gain any kind of prestige as they are looked upon with suspicion for not following the rest of their clan.

My troubles here at home may affect my internet connection. I don't know if I'll be able to come back to PV, so I'm not writing until I know what is going to happen. There is SO MUCH CONFUSION here and I don't know what the hell is going on. I haven't started the story yet because I don't want to begin, only for me to disappear two posts in. The blow-up happened only 2 hours after I posted this Discussion thread. If I knew what would happen, I wouldn't have posted even this because I hate to get your guys' hopes up. I have to wait and see what will happen, if anything will happen at all. Arrgh.

  •                 Well it has been over a week and I'm still online with no "alterations" to my connection, so I think I'm pretty safe for the time being. I'm going to have to watch my p's and q's (and maybe beg for mercy) until I can gather enough money to move out. Anyway, I'm reopening the chronicle and here is what I need from each of you:

Two of you have sent me profiles of your characters and both need revising. One is pretty good and just needs a couple of touch-ups, the other needs a complete overhaul; I'm not going to say who wrote what. Follow what I said in the first post regarding the character creation process, and also read Vampire: The Masquerade pages 102-109 for step-by-step instructions for character concept and creation, especially pages 108-109. Here is my 7-point bonus system that I will use for analyzing preludes:

     1-3 - How well-written it is
0-2 - Circumstances of the Embrace
     0-1 - Spelling/Grammar
     0-1 - Open-endedness and Storytelling hooks

Once this is finished, I will then role-play with each of you individually behind-the-scenes to tie our preludes together, but not inform anybody else on each other's backgrounds. Only after that will we begin in the main thread, spending a chapter or so having all of our characters meet. If you want to stick around and form a coterie, great. If you want to splinter off and do your own thing, that's fine too. Hell you can join up with the Sabbat, Anarchs, Camarilla, work for one of the Independents, or even go Autarkis if you want.

I'll make some Character Sheets for you guys to fill out and I'll PM you with them. Also, the Talents, Skills, and Knowledges traits are not an exhaustive list. Feel free to PM me with any traits you want added. For example, Artistic Expression shows how good you are at painting, Piloting shows you can fly a plane, Demolitions makes you proficient with explosives-- there is also Dancing, Fast-Talk, Forgery, Gambling, etc.
