Burke spots the guy as he comes out, and mouths "Oh shit." Burke stares forward, trying to appear natural. He catches Sherie's eyes in the rearview mirror and gives her a momentary lift of the eyebrows and a look that might be a concession to an 'i told you so' that will likely come later.

As the man approaches, Burke sighs heavily and says under his breath: "Here we go again..."
Burke rolls down the rear passenger side window, (As I assume he is approaching from the passenger side if he saw Gwen)
focuses his will into making himself appear normal and nonthreatening and puts on his best 'these arent the droids you're looking for' face.

Everyone in the car feels Burke's personality wash over them- you are all beginning to get a sense for what the powers of his personality feel like.
This particular time, it is clear that Burke is in command, in charge. They're all perfectly justified in being there, and everything Burke is saying seems much more plausible, his posture and his personality very non-threatening. His tone is casual.

"Hey there. Is there a problem of some sort?"

The Man Approaches the Window where Burke is at
"Yeah, she said she was just going to check something upstairs but it feels like shes up there forever and... I don't know why I'm telling you this , its like any guy can get her except me, so please tell me one of you is that guy's wife or something... " The Man's slurry rumbling stops as he finishes telling Burke his problem with a heavy tired sigh. "Sorry friend, I didn't mean to lay it all on you like that, I don't know what I'm saying" he lowers his head kind of embarrassed or frustrated

Burke blinks twice, confusion temporarily marring his features.

"It's alright. I'm not sure we're talking about the same people- who is the woman you're talking about?"
Burke keeps his attention focused on the man, holding eye contact, to keep him from looking around the car too much. His hand rests on the spiked extraction hammer, sitting out of view against the inside of the car door. His grip slackens a bit as the man appears not to have overtly hostile intent.
Gabriel focuses his senses, trying to spot signs of breathing or any other telltale signs of something being "off" in some way.

The man returns to look at Gabriel
"The Woman? her name is Shirly ,she works here sometimes but you probably don't know her, look I'm sorry to bother you with this sir, don't know why I'm troubling you with all of this, I just eh, just wanted to know if, well, you know...like ... never-mind" The man is clearly embarrassed now.

Burke's facial features soften a little, and a sympathetic smile crosses his face. He tries to let that override the hunger that now rises within him.

He pushes the extraction hammer behind him and opens the passenger side door, smoothly tucking it under his messenger bag as he stands up. He winks to Gary wryly and then steps out of the car. He stretches his arms as though his muscles are tired.
"We've been driving for a while, I wouldn't mind stretching my legs. Hope you don't mind."
Burke reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pack of cigarettes. They're a little road-weary, but they're still smokable. Burke wonders if they'll have any effect whatsoever.
Withdrawing one for himself, he offers one to the man.
"So... Girl troubles? I've been where you are, man. Got burned by my own fiance a few weeks back, actually. So what happened?"
Burke's personality is still powerful, but it has eased back to a more likeable, desire to chat and trust him kind of feeling. Burke also appears, strangely, a bit more put-together than you know him to be. The issues with his clothes are just not quiiite as noticeable, though they are still there.

The man backs a little to give Gabriel some space to come out of the car "sure, go ahead" he takes a cigarette just holding it, he looks at Burke but if he is wondering about all the ketchup stains on Gabriel's cloths and Gabriel's messy appearance he doesn't really say anything.
"Well we're not really together but I like her and I made a move but shes not into me and you know, every time shes here its tough for me cause I have to be around here and see all these douche-bags hitting on her and when she flirts with some of them" the man sighs "you must think I'm such a loser huh?"

Sherie turns off the engine and relaxes slightly.  Burke's calmness seems contagious and she almost forgets about her previous observations.  Seeing that Burke and the guard seem to be getting along, she turns to Gwen, Adrian and Tomaz.  "Hey" she whispers softly.  She tilts her head towards the building and breathes "side entrance over there."  Once the guard steps away from the car a little bit, Sherie looks him over to see if he has any kind of weapon, key ring or whatever.

A plan begins to form, seemingly on its own.  She sees herself telling him that she just now saw that woman he's looking for.  Then leading him around the back of the building.  Then blood.  She shuts her eyes for a moment and shakes the idea away with some effort.

Burke chuckles a bit, allowing himself some genuine mirth. His language becomes naturally similar to his, a talent honed from years training in the business world.
"Nah, man. I was just thinking about how funny it is- the way the world works and all. See... I used to work with this girl. Claire. She was the office manager at our firm in the states. This girl... I mean, wow. She just, rocked my world. I'm sorta 'upper management,' right, so I have to worry about how I approach things with her- don't want to get smacked with a lawsuit or anything. Now my.. *ahem* excesses are pretty well known throughout the workplace and probably beyond, so she makes it pretty clear that she thinks I'm a total- well.. Douchebag, and pretty much completely ignores me when it's not work related.
Now I'm the type of guy who pretty much gets whatever he wants- I consider it a flaw, not a strength mind you- and the fact that this chick turned me down flat without knowing anything at all about me... Well, that meant I absolutely HAD to have her."

Burke digs around in his pocket until he finds his lighter, and takes a deep breath to steady himself, remembering the flame in the van and how terrifying it was.
Burke strikes the lighter, flinching momentarily, surprised at how his very soul seemed to recoil from the flame. He very nearly drops the lighter, but recovers smoothly, appearing only a bit agitated to be telling this story to a total stranger. He lights the cigarette and takes a long drag, handing the lighter to the man. As he exhales, he notes with sadness that the physical effects of the nicotine are completely gone. His eyebrows knot for a moment and then he returns to his story.

"Anyway, a year goes by. Yeah, a year, and all I can do is think about this girl. For people who know me, that's an eternity for me to be interested in one person- and for some reason I just can't get her off my mind. I have to watch her get hit on by every marketing douchebag who ever comes into the office- watch her flirt back, yknow..."
Burke takes another drag, lost in thought for a moment.
"So long story short, one day she walks in, and she's wearing this low-cut blazer and just a perfect length of skirt, and... I'm telling you- wow. So I decide it's time. I walk up to her at lunch when we have the whole upstairs part of the office to ourselves, and I ask her to dinner. She looks like she's going to say no-- I know when people are about to say no-- so I just lay it all out there. I don't know what came over me. I told her that under this spoiled party-brat exterior is a guy who has been searching for meaning his whole life and never found it. I started jabbering about Fernand Mondego from the Count of Monte Cristo- a character that has always resonated with me... Having everything, being miserable and wanting to be like those who have nothing but are happy...
Long story short- despite me completely embarassing myself, and just as I'm about to turn around and trudge back to my office, she says yes.
She told me later that so many guys play games and treat women like some unattainable prize, when really they have the same shit in their lives to go through that we do. Many times they're just looking for someone who isn't afraid to be real- to stop treating love like it's a fairytale or some unattainable thing and just realize that it's what everyone is looking for in the end. She is too: you just have to figure out exactly what that looks like to her, and then show her that you can give that to her." Burke looks momentarily surprised about spilling his guts to a total stranger, but he realizes that this is about as close as he can come to venting his confusion about being a vampire to someone without them thinking he's insane.

A little sheepish, but still keeping his wall of personality up, Burke takes another drag of his cigarette and recovers smoothly with a reassuring smile. The whole time during the pause between their conversation, Burke fiddles with the phone in his pocket, fighting down the overpowering urge to call Claire- The frantic anxiety to beg her to come home.
Come home to what? His conscious mind screams.
To be part of some Vampire love-fest? Are you going to ghoul her to make her love you? Would you force your will on her like you do on Tomaz? The voice within him resonates with complete disgust. knowing every word of it is true, and that reconnection is impossible, Burke blinks hard to clear his mind and fight down the rising anxiety.

As Burke tells his long droll story about some irrelevant cow, Gwen inches closer to the bellhop as the story wears on. She moves close enough that she manages to put an arm around his shoulder as Burke finishes talking.

"Hey man, why worry about some boorish bird when you got friends like us?" she quizzes trying to come off with her best English (as in British) accent possible. "We just got back from a party mate, and we're still looking for a go, so why not hang with us a while?"

Sherie cringes when she realizes what Gwen is up to, but shrugs and glances at Tomaz and Gary to see if they were also impressed with how well she seemed to muster that kind of energy, given their surroundings.

The Guard seems very confused at this moment, here he is with a man telling him something very deep and convincing about Love and on the other hand a woman in panties seduces him. "I don't know, I want to but the man here is right, I have to tell Shirly how I feel" he doesn't do anything to remove her arm though he is still conflicted and his attention span is still focused on Burke and his Story.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Since he is still under the influence of Burke's effect at the moment and Burke had more Successes than Gwen I think he will not fall under seduction as long as he is under the influence, There are ways to dispel what Burke is doing but IC I don't think Gwen knows what Burke is doing(or that he is doing anything for that matter) or how to dispel it.  more on the OOC thread or PM if you wish to discuss this.

"Ay man, don't worry bout' hiz stories. Gabbie here is full of 'em. He can really spin som' an ya really don't always need'a take things at faysse value."

She slurs her speech slightly to make herself seem "easy" as if they'd had a hard night of drinking and were coming to this ratty motel for some more "fun."

"Look mate, if'n you don't wan to have some fun with us thas fine, but yah really gotta liff a little. Hee. Oh man, you shudda seen tha bird over ther cuttin it earlier ta'nite an' Gabbie here is usually the payin fah drinks so you ain't got anythin to worry bout."

She points over to Sherie and grins putting her head on the guy's shoulder. At this point her voice is all over the place and its probably more confusing as she's having trouble holding down any one accent. She tries to assert herself and push the guy's emotions harder in her favor.

As all of this goes on, one thought dominates Tomaz: Burke had cigarettes, THIS WHOLE TIME, and he never offered me one. That...jerk.
