IC- Ch.1.1
« on: May 13, 2011, 01:34:21 AM »
Late night 03:30 AM October 23
Adrian's Car drives past the old steel arched gateway of Warren town and Gwen's motorcycle trailing behind them, the streets of the small town are very quiet and dark at this hour with no one in sight save for possibly the dumpster truck and occasional police patrol.
Most of the businesses are located at the center of town and around it are mostly cabins and stand alone plots of vacant summer houses and cottages.

The GPS shows Three places in Warren that are open for this season:
'The Indigo Road Motel and Pub/Restaurant'
'Urona's Bed & Breakfast'
And ' Lion Crest Hostel'
though the GPS doesn't specify if they are open after business hours.

Aside from these there is Shepard's place that Tomaz found and marked on the GPS map and the risky last resort of breaking into one of the seemingly abandoned summer houses.

Dawn approaches and with other plans taking a bad turn the kindred must decide where they will find shelter.
Spoiler for Hiden:
Assume no restrictions, even Splitting up or digging holes in the ground are an option but in case of a split-up the characters cannot be aware of one another's actions in that case

She looks over at the screen and raises an eyebrow.  "I didn't know there was a hostel.  Probably cheap and anonymous, but probably not so good for privacy.  People tend to notice when they're sleeping next to a bullet-riddled..."  She trails off, realizing that she was about to refer to her companions -- and, by extension herself -- as a corpse.  She clears her throat and hurriedly continues.  "Are the other two places nearby?  Which one's closest?"

Burke leans forward, looking at the GPS.

"My vote is for the Motel and pub, if we must. I'd prefer a Holiday inn or something, but beggars can't be choosers I guess... Everything is going to have windows though..."

Adrian thinks about his comfortable home with his retainer and his comfortable bed.  Odds are these strangers aren't going to let him just drop them off with a see-you-Mañana wave.  Adrian shrugs his shoulders while thinking to himself.  Well at least this is interesting.

Adrian listens as Burke begins to speak, liking him more and more.  There's something about him and his aura that is.. familiar.

Adrian cocks an eyebrow and begins to chuckle:

"That's why the good lord invented bathtubs!  The shittier the place the better.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't need a minimum wage maid ignoring the do not disturb sign."

Burke smirks a bit, steadily getting more and more relaxed due to distance from the incident.

"Bathtubs, huh? Glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking it... Is this a regular thing for our kind? Do we need coffins and bathtubs? Because I'll take turndown service right about now..." Burke's voice gets wistful-"Nice comfortable queen bed, after a nice long shower. Hell yes."

Spoiler for Hiden:
Funny story, I edited this post just so that I could type "Bathtubs, Huh?" Instead of "Bathtubs, eh?" Forgot Burke was an ignorant yankee ;)

Sherie bites her tongue to keep from laughing.  "Easy.  One person gets the room, and then lets the rest of us in through the window, or the back door or whatever."  She stops to consider it some more.  "Besides, I'm pretty sure at least a couple of us can force ourselves not to be noticed...like some kind of misdirection or something.  Not sure exactly how it works."  She looks in the rearview mirror and sees Tomaz.  "I say we send him in." she adds, only half jokingly.

"If it's all the same, I volunteer to do the talking with the motel front desk.  I don't have any blood or me or bullet holes in me."

Sherie narrows her eyes at him for a split second.  She opens her mouth to protest, but stops herself.

Burke smirks a bit at Sherie's suspicion, as though he finds it to be an endearing personality trait.

"You'll have to forgive us for being a touch on the suspicious side... We were all sorta snatched up into this craziness without any prior warning... We're still establishing what is real and what isn't. I do think that if you'd wanted to screw us over, though, you would have. Does everyone have money for a room?"

Gary shakes his head like he doesn't agree with the plan, before saying "Fine, lets do this. Not like we have much of a choice..."

Tomaz, MEEKLY, raises his head.

"Won't any room in any of these hotel/motel/pub/hostels have windows? Which allow sunlight into rooms? Boss, my um...friend Shep's house has a basement, and everyone is stoned enough not to notice even something so obvious as dear Gary's monster-face. Not to mention the sheer number of willing wenches about if you're like...thirsty, or whatever you want to call it."

Mulling it over, she suddenly likes this idea a bit more.  "No windows...no money trail.  But it has the same problem as the hostel: if people can come and go, how are we supposed to know that they'll leave us alone?"

"Shepard's an old friend. He's also out of his mind right now. As are most of his guests. Day 4 of a 7 day bender (he does these twice a year.) He probably hasn't even realized yet that I'm not there. Point is, even if someone put it together enough to consider all of us out of place, that's still a long way form DOING anything about it. And even if they did, they wouldn't exactly be considered a reliable source."

"If the rest of you want to place your trust and faith into a bunch of drugged up losers, that is your choice.  I, for one, do not want to sleep in the basement of someone who might sell me out for a score."

Adrian lets out a sigh.

"We can easily enough rent two rooms and fit three to a room.  Ghouls get the bed after all the sun won't bother you none.  Besides, the shittier the motel the better.  We don't look rich enough to steal from and those kinds of places are known to keep prying eyes out."

Adrian mindlessly taps on the glass.

"Besides when the police come looking for some of you, do you really want to be around other people?  Even a stoned crackhead knows how to dial a phone for some reward money."
