Um Storyteller, should we roll initiatives or ?

My character already went in front after rolling a successful Manipulation + Leadership(2 successes) before Void's as far as I can see... Annoying I know and everyone probably wants to kill him on some level but why should [3] be allowed to rewind the flow of events and override with a different leadership roll?

I didn't mean to step on Rad's toes, just wanted to try a contesting leadsership roll, because it's in the boy's nature to try and be better than others. Having failed to beat rad's score though, I let the boy stand defeated.

Seriously! Aydoo's board is cursed with 1's!! A botched manip+subterfuge roll haha...I'm going to play this up.

Thats not a botch. Its a fail. A botch is when you get 0 success an roll a 1. A roll is a fail as long as you get one success.

Example:

10 1 1 1 1 1 is a fail roll just like 2 2 2 2 2 2.

2 3 4 1 is a botch roll.


I reviewed everything, it'll stand as is. My question is since no one has been specific enough and just gone a long with it, what STAIRWELL are we talking about?

TBH i had no clue there even WAS a stairwell. From the discription of the area given in the first post, i figured that all stairs mentioned in the text meant the steps leading up to the altar or the collapsed passageway

Right. And every 1 cancels out a success. So I rolled one succes (8) and two (1)'s. One of the (1)s cancels out my success (8) and I am left with: 0 successes and one (1). At that point it's a botch, according to the WOD rules Malavis taught me

Its not. If you get AT LEAST ONE SUCCESS, its a fail. No matter how many 1s you have.

It says this in the core book. pg 192-193

Alright, I guess Malavis and I have just been playing wrong then, hah. Wow...so it's actually pretty hard to botch then.

I always looked at increasing dicepool as a gamble - higher probability to succeed, but also higher to gets 1s, and if you had too many vs. your successes, more dice would mean more botch chance.

Hmm...okay, well I can rest easier knowing it's extremely unlikely to botch!

Also, I think it's the south stairs.

Just a note as well, if you botch a roll, do not follow up until given instructions on the effects of the roll. Thats you know, kind of an ST thing.

This is correct. There is no other stairwell leading up. There are the few steps to the altar, and the collapsed passage.

If those are the only stairs in the area then there wouldn't really be any stairwells, right? A stairwell is after all a vertical shaft in which a stair is built, leading up or down.
