World of Darkness: Homebrew
« on: May 18, 2017, 06:38:06 PM »
Hi so I've been talking to a fan and looking at peoples thoughts on the new rules systems being implemented by the nuWhite Wolf and now I believe it's time to create a forum specifically for the disenfranchised.
It would be a forum for those who still like the old World of Darkness but feel it needs to be polished or modified in some and see Chronicles of Darkness as to alien for their tastes.
I feel it would be a new source of members plus an opportunity for potential creatives to create, 'maker space' to share ideas and interpretations of the old WoD and hopefully get people into the modding business.
What do you think?

I have no problem with others posting their grievances with WW's rule systems. I'm open to the idea of an additional sub forum to the "Classic World of Darkness" area or something for people to post who want to play by different rules, if there are enough people who want it. I just don't want to take a position in this matter, or make the site appear like we're being activists. Also, I wouldn't be willing to stop people critiquing your rules, as you have the right to critique the official rules. I'd need to know it's going to be 10+ active members interested in having it to even have an official discussion with the other admins about it among ourselves.  Thoughts?

I actually have no problem with the rule changes personally (although it's worth pointing out I had no problem with the old system), so far based on what I've read it appears they're [nuWhite Wolf] trying to streamline the game a little for LARPing, I don't want anybody thinking this is some sort of protest or taking sides in argument (what's done is done).

It's worth pointing out that this could be a good place for discussing and separate out Onyx Path's Classic World of Darkness modules too, since (based on what I've read) it has little to do with nuWW strategy for the franchise.

I did notice a fair level of activity on social media when the announcement took place take that how you will.

Would this just be about rules or about the actual setting?

It's about both.
Some people find Chronicles of Darkness setting too alien but like the mechanics.

Some people don't like the 5th edition nuWorld of Darkness's [created by nuWhite Wolf] changes to the mechanics but like the setting.

Some people are in-between or hate everything.

What I'm suggesting is creating a fourth forum along side the Classic/New World of Darkness and Interactive Story Board forums for pre-5th edition discussion and Homebrew WoD concepts.

A World of Darkness 'Limbo' of you will.

Spoiler for Hiden:
(Also 'New World of Darkness' should probably become 'Chronicles of Darkness' and 'Classic World of Darkness' would be just 'World of Darkness' or 'NuWorld of Darkness' but baby steps, baby steps.)

I agree that the two existing boards should be renamed to the new standard names, but creating yet another one just for imaginery system discussion is a big much! Please do it in one of the other boards to which your system is closest to...

It isn't just an imaginary system though, since 'NuWhite Wolf' isn't using most of the new pre-5th Edition stuff currently being published by Onyx Path.
