Yeah guys.  I mean the whole idea behind this was to have a laugh together.  I mean, we obviously knew there'd be one or two people *coughcoughoffkorncough* who'd fail to see the humor in it.  The fact that it turned into something more than just a joke and became this outlet of issues is not a bad thing.  Like Skyra said, there will be time to post more about said issues and concerns soon,

Well, what are the specific reasons that speak against doing that now?

I won't debate the value of having a laugh together. Personally, however, I prefer to switch to the amusement after the work has been done. Judging from the state of the site, I unfortunately get the impression that the amusement took place instead of doing the work.

I mean, please try to understand my perspective. Some weeks ago I buy VtMB, try to get some information about it, and find this site, which apparently has been abandoned by its staff. Pages aren't updated, the "Patches" page is 10 months outdated, the forums have members insulting others with no moderator saying anything. The first thing that I see from the mods is that they invested a substantial amount of time to play an elaborate prank on their own community. They even say that they were willing to risk their positions over doing so (see first post). Then, during the prank, a couple of quite obvious problems with the site get mentioned, and the only reaction from the mods is "It will be discussed soon". Why "soon"? Why not now? I mean, they can't really tell me that they have no time to do it now, not after spending so much time and effort on a prank, can they? What reason do they give me to believe that they really care for this site? They may very well do, I don't know them, but all I've seen so far is a neglected site and a prank that they pulled through in full knowledge that it might get them fired. If you were in my shoes, how much confidence would that raise for you that they actually care for the site, and have the will and energy to improve it?

I mean, for example, how difficult is it to update a single page (which happens to be important for newcomers) when you have 10 months time for it? The "patches" page still lists v5.3 as the latest version of the unofficial patch, while the staff is busy playing pranks. They might be nice and great people and all, but I do have a point here, don't I?

Anyway. I hate to be a complainer, so I took the source from the "patches" page and updated it. I added links to the patch versions since v5.4, some basic information about how the patch works (I found the previous text a bit confusing), explained how localized versions are affected and what the "basic" and "plus" versions do, added a complete changelog, fixed the line wrap of the changelog, and fixed an html error which caused everything after the "Unofficial Patches" headline to be displayed in upscaled font. It still isn't perfect, but at least this updated page acknowledges that there are versions of the unofficial patch past v5.3. Some of the links to Filefront aren't working, personally I'd suggest to remove them - are there really good reasons why someone would want to use an outdated version of the patch? However, the links are present on the current page, so I left them in. Here's an updated "patches" page, good for 10 downloads, which should be enough for someone of the staff getting it: Rapidshare link

Now, could we please update this page, please?

It's all been said before Psyringe. Years ago.

There was plenty of talk about big changes during the 'upgrade' as well. Nothing came of that either. All you're doing is re-hashing something everyone already knows and that I myself said not two days ago.

They have to decide to do something on their own, no amount of prodding will force them into it.

Thanks, I'll get this fixed tonight. As Skyra said, we'll be absorbing ideas to fix up the site/add new content and figuring out how to accomplish it with our busy schedules. As it was stated in this whole mess, we aren't paid employees and no we don't have perks other than a larger avy and other account settings like having a different colored name. We just brought Dante aboard to PV so we'll also have an extra member to help us get things done. Our Gamespy rep, EvilHomer is now aware we want to prepare for the MMO and change the design of our front page ect. We'll also have some opportunities to put other ideas in place and the result of the transformation will at least be partially based on our community's ideas.

On a sidenote: Skyra sent a PM to EvilHomer right after we redirected to PlanetCyril, telling him about the prank, and he still hadn't read the PM by the time we changed it back. Well last night, about 3 hours later, EvilHomer appeared in the "Users Online" list and about 2 minutes later there were like 4 other members of IGN staff. I thought that was pretty funny, he probably about shit his pants... grin

 But I was definitely fooled.

Although, when Adrian posted that it was a possible April Fool's Day prank, I sort of sat up an wondered...

How exactly is Gehenna straight-up saying Caine wasn't in L.A. not proof that Caine wasn't in L.A.?

It's no different from saying that Beckett is not a Werewolf because White Wolf straight-up says he's not a Werewolf.

That's not what I was saying. Gehenna indeed states that Caine wasn't in LA which is why it should be in the FAQ with the exact citation. It does say though that Caine did talk to some people which may make all the other people happy who think there was a connection to Caine in Bloodlines through the Cabbie. Regardless of what anyone believes, these facts should be presented here somewhere, either in a FAQ or a stickied thread.

In case nobody noticed, Psyringe's new Bloodlines Patches page was implemented within hours of him submitting it.  I know that doesn't make up for the last couple years of slow updates, but let it stand as evidence that we are listening to members and implementing reasonable changes as they are recommended.  A formal suggestions submission/response thread will be in place tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Indeed. All it took to get the page updated was for someone else to do the work and hand you the source code.

Suggestion: Give Wesp access to the Front Page and let him use it as a running update feed for his Compilation.

Suggestion Mk II: Tell Javokis to announce the Wodal Mod on the Front Page.

Suggestion Mk III: 'Hire' someone to help you that actually has the time to help. For example; NOT someone who already moderates a site with exponentially more traffic than this one.

Umm This site makes no profit and sells nothing how is he suppossed to  "Hire" someone and pay their wages. I know that if you need web designers and such to overlook your site they are pretty expensive.
