Was kinda obvious it was an April fools thing, or it would have been a hell of a coincidance. I think the best supporting actor was oddly enough Offkorn, we now know on whos side he would be in a Sabbat siege.

If I may offer an independent perspective of someone who just started watching this site a few weeks ago when I bought Bloodlines ...

Technically, this prank was well done. Whether it's really a good idea if some moderators get their lulz at the expense of pissing off a substantial part of an already decimated community is another question. I definitely wouldn't have done it on one of my sites.

However, there's one thing that's *really* irritating about this whole thing. When I looked for Bloodlines fansites a while ago, I concluded that Planet Vampire is basically a ruin. The "Patches" page is outdated by 10 months. Detailed information of the game (and especially game mechanics) is lacking; I found Gamefaqs to be a better source of information. Information about mods is hard to come by. The FAQ is a joke - it looks as if it was written even before the game was released, there is no technical help section whatsoever. The forums are dominated by an odd figure that shoots down interesting discussions with religious zeal if they don't fit into his view of canon, abusing other members on a regular basis, and throwing around insults ("you're an idiot", "morons", "you fucking idiot", etc. - that's just from the last few days), no moderator seems to care, it's certainly something that kept me from participating so far.

I wouldn't say anything if the staff of this site actually *was* dead. Such things happen, sites die, and Bloodlines is an old and discontinued game. However, the staff apparently is *not* dead. It's just that instead of providing the site with content and updates that are desperately needed, they appear to spend their time playing an elaborate prank on their own community. This was a prank that needed time, effort, and dedication to prepare and pull through. All of this time and effort *could* have been used to improve the site instead, like adding content or at least *trying* to maintain a more open climate for discussions, but wasn't.

Please believe me, I don't have any quarrels with anybody here. I'm not just some angry old member faking a new account (I can prove that if there's doubt). I'm just a neutral observer that recently developed an interested in an amazing game that escaped his radar so far. And as such, I have to say that I regard it as an extremely poor choice to spend time playing pranks on one's community while at the same time neglecting the site and the forums.

I really urge the staff to rethink their priorities. Thanks for listening.

If by 'interesting discussions' you mean 'trying to convince people that the Cabbie is Caine despite ample proof to the contrary', then you're an idiot. Shutting down that conversation is no different than shutting down the 'Is Beckett a Werewolf?' conversation.

If by 'interesting discussions' you actually mean 'interesting discussions', then you're talking about someone other than me who I've never met or even heard of.

Oh, and you may want to look up the definition of 'canon', as it's not something that's subject to personal opinion.

Well played, gentlemen! Imagine my shock when the Planet Cyril website loaded. It was a lot of fun, and, to whoever wrote the "Welcome to Planet Cyril!" text: sir, you're awesome  laugh

It was all an april fools joke and I thought I was going to have real fun.
How very dissapointingly vanilla of you all.

I suppose I will have to go back to my lonely bedroom and my black latex bedsheets. Atleast I still have my leather floggers and my sex toys and my bitches to play with for fun until the MMORPG comes out.

then you're an idiot

Well, thanks for proving my point, I guess. As I mentioned in my previous post, it's not the opinions that you present which I find offputting (I agree with many of your opinions), it's rather the imho abusive and overly aggressive way how you present them. With your obvious knowledge about oWoD, you could be a Beckett on these forums, enlightening people while still encouraging individual thought and respecting differing opinions. With your zeal in attacking and insulting people who dare to present different opinions, you rather end up being a Grünfeld Bach though, which is a shame imho.

Anyway. That's not really on topic here. However, the fact that you responded to this, and only this, part of my post, illustrates the problems I tried to outline.

In all the discussions I've seen, you were the only person who mentioned the currently rather poor state of the site. You even made concrete suggestions on what to improve. In my post, I said exactly the same, I basically advanced your agenda in that regard. And of all people who posted in this thread, I was the only one so far who did that. I presented you an opportunity to go beyond the "good prank / bad prank" discussion that is developing here, and re-focusing on the point that this site could benefit immensely from some updates.

I'm aware that my post also criticized your behavior, And I must admit that I was curious how you'd answer to the post. Would you focus on improving the site, or would you focus on the personal aspects regarding your behavior? What's more important to you - improving the site or justifying your own behavior in discussions? Seeing that you only replied to the latter and totally ignored the former (although it my post would have been a good opportunity for you to re-focus the discussion on site improvements), the answer appears to be a bit sobering.

I have to give the moderators of this site alot of credit for doing something completely unique, and no, not just because it was all about myself. They have really stood out as very creative, crafty, and persistant people and as long as they have that attitude and do not take everything so seriously the potential of what they want is endless. Good job Staff.
