Me and my Troupe decided to do this it's quiet fun.  When you describe the scenes the players actually know what you are referring to and as well thinking about all the abandoned as well as run down buildings in your town as being havens and chantrys.

It's quiet Interesting and Unique.  Anyone else ever tried it? happy

People do it all the time (in LARP, at least).

You all speak in hushed tones and use sign-language, I imagine?

That being said, we never played one located in the neighborhood, since most our Chronicles take place in Canada and Belgium of all places (note: it's not where we live). We, uh, well, the characters anyway (separating-game-world-from-real-life-issue there *cough cough*) started out there, and with some exceptions the following Chronicles fit into the setting and backstory, since almost six years now.

I wouldn't know about LARP though, never having seriously played it save for two occasions. Both of which best left forgotten.

Our hometown is to small to support vampires, so we didn't. We usually used New York, which is the closest big city.

That's how our hometown is as well but it's also across the border from Mexico and we all know Mexico is big with Sabbat grin   Jsut use your imagination it doesn't have to be a huge city just to have a good time.

Small cities are ALSO easier to pound into a bloody pulp.  If you plan on setting up your own little citystate, just don't tell Archbishop Contreraz.

True i'm aware of that, but there are perks to being a small group of vampires in a small city, for one thing easier to claim prince status of that city.

And what would be the point of that? One player is prince while all the others are flunkys? It can work in some chronicles, but not most.

with the kindred there are there.

We'd be the only Kindred there.

and also keep in mind tehre's always the possibilty of a sect (camarilla or sabbat or Indepent) Wanting to expand out there so they would need your home town kinda as a reserve or preparation ground before taking a bigger city.

Trust me when I say that neither the Sabbat nor the Camarilla are interested in small towns. The Sabbat may raze a few on the way to a bigger one, but they would not settle there.

Imagination goes along way happy

Again, we played by the book. We did this for a very simple reason:

They way White Wolf created it makes perfict sense, everything is set out to fit together to form a near seamless whole. Once you start rearranging pieces, everything falls apart. That leaves you no longer playing the same game that you bought all those books for.
