Do the old books still apply today?
« on: March 27, 2020, 11:11:59 PM »
Hello all,

This is my first post in Planet Vampire. I'm happy to have found a resource for my newfound journey into the World of Darkness.

So, I only own and have experience with 5e, but I know there is plenty of depth to this particular world; I'm itching to buy more books and learn all I can about the lore (and the "By Night" books look fantastic). The first book I'm eyeing is Lore of the Clans. It seems like a great place to start, but I'm wondering if anything (besides the drama text and the archetypes) is useful for 5e. Is it worth it even just for fodder for the imagination?

Would this be a wiser purchase over the individual clan books? Are any other books worth checking out as a newcomer? Also, someone mentioned that it would be worth getting an earlier version of the game (1,2) for more depth and lore and then just transposing 5e rules on to it all. I'm not against this idea (I really enjoy the mechanics of 5e), but I'm curious what the community thinks.

Happy hunting!
