Ashford crosses the stage [[In Obfuscate]] and climbs down into the seats below. He hops over a few of the chairs, stealthily falling in at the man's flank.

Everything is going smoothly according to plan, right up until that fateful squeaky board.  You know, the one that you can't help but step on.

Detective Weir turns to face the man casually approaching him from the side.

"Sir, I'm going to need you to come here and keep your hands where I can see them.  Is there anyone else back stage?"  He turns to face Benjamin.  "Just how many employees do you have here right now, I'm going to need to speak to all of them."  The stern look on the tired detectives face indicates that his patience is beginning to wear thin.

Ashford winces imperceptibly, and then puts his hands out wide and grins at the officer. His head tilts rakishly in a "Who me?" expression, and he flashes a winning smile. He now has an almost Jack Sparrow air about him, his voice taking on a british accent. Benjamin better be fucking impressed by this.

"Just us. Caught us red handed, mate. Rehearsals, You know."

He grins once again, stumbling endearingly over the chairs, as though he always meant to do that...

Victor calmly comes down off the stage and heads up the aisles towards the police officer.

Spoiler for Hiden:
In the interest of fun and saving time, I'm going to assume that none of you say/do anything too out of the ordinary while Detective Weir goes over the usual police questions.  He asks for your ID, your name, what you're doing here, how long you've worked here, and some other general background questions that are not all that interesting.  The interesting and/or possible story changing questions won't be glossed over in this fashion.

Detective Weir waits for the third man to approach before he asks several routine, background questions.  "We received a panicked phone call from a young woman, a Daphne, that she was being attacked by several men, including her employer, and a woman."  His icy stare turns to Benjamin.  "Now we show up and find several men, her employer, and a woman here.  And all attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful."

The detective begins to walk slowly towards the stage.  You notice he turns his attention towards the cluster of broken chairs.  "Had an accident over here Benjamin?"  He turns back to the three men.  "I'll tell you now, I don't have a warrant to search your theater, not yet at least.  However, it seems like something foul is happening here, so I don't think it would be too difficult to get one.  However, you could save me the trouble and simply give me permission to look about and we'll be out of your hair in no time at all."

He walks back to the group.  "How 'bout it?"

Ashford responds to all questions in a friendly, if foppish, manner- and also clearly appears to be attracted to the officer: In an attempt to make him just a touch uncomfortable so he'll leave sooner.

Benjamin answers the detective's questions quietly, attempting to emphasize a shocked concern in his demeanor.

"Daphne... She left for home early, right after the play started - the dear said she wasn't feeling well. Detective, you don't suppose...? Oh, no..." Benjamin's face contorts in grief (a farce more honest than his companions could possibly know).

"This is my fault." He puts his hand to his forehead and continues, animatedly shaken. "I should have had someone see her home, or called a cab for her - the show was starting and I made a snap decision to let her leave. And now you're telling me she's been attacked by some wretched gang?"

He lets the new accusation hang for a moment, disgusted and in disbelief.

"But bless the clever lass; to give you my name in her no-doubt addled and frightened state. She must have known I would be able to help. You've come to the right place, detective. Please - search around." Benjamin flashes a quick glance to Ashford and waves his hand, sweeping across the room.

"If there's anything you can find here that will lead us to where she went," he adds, "anything at all - please." Benjamin looks Weir straight in the face. "We have to make sure she's ok. Let me know what I can do - I won't be able to rest until I know she's safe."

Spoiler for Hiden:
Spending a blood point to boost Charisma. Also spending two Willpower - one per roll - for both rolls below to grant 1 automatic success on each - if that is approved by Friktion. Really don't want to fail either of these right now...

Spoiler for Hiden:
Charisma (boosted) + Performance (Enchanting Voice) + WP to accentuate his sense of grief and shock at the news
Rolled 6d10 : 2, 4, 8, 6, 3, 5, total 28

Spoiler for Hiden:
Manip + Subterfuge + WP (he is lying about the facts, even if the grief is real enough):
Rolled 3d10 : 2, 5, 3, total 10

Detective Weir listens to Benjamin intently, he seems to soften up upon hearing the out-pour of genuine grief.  He shakes his head, almost consolingly, as if ashamed to suspect Benjamin of possibly harming the girl.

Suddenly, he snaps back into reality.  "Really? You think she said that you were attacking her just so that we would come visit you?" He asks with a sarcastic cock of the head.  "Maybe."

Spoiler for Hiden:
cock of the head, giggle

He walks to the front door and beckons the other officer and the woman inside.  "Please wait here while we take a look around, shouldn't take more than ten minutes.  We're just going to quickly peak into the backrooms, dressing rooms, storage, stuff like that."

Detective Weir splits up from the other officer.  As the uniformed officer takes a look around the auditorium and makes his way to the stage, the detective then makes his way backstage.

You let out a slight chuckle, uh oh.

Having stored her in a trunk underneath some very fragile-looking pottery, Ashford is very confident that Weir won't find her. He gives Ben a subtle nod.

The two police officers make their way around the eerily quiet theater.  After what seems like an eternity, Detective Weir returns.  "Well everything seems to be in order, sorry for wasting your time."  You get the feeling that the policeman is hiding something, but perhaps it is just the dangers of an overactive imagination and a guilty conscience.

Then just as suddenly as they had arrived, the two men leave.  Their presence is now just a lingering memory, save for a business card that Detective Weir left on the door.

Spoiler for Hiden:
This will conclude the scene unless any players wish to extend it.
