4.0 The Buy In

So close, that was far too close. The relief in the air is almost palpable after Detective Weir leaves, yet something about his visit seemed odd. He asked all the right questions, he put on a good show, but what was he really after? Also, if he suspected that we killed someone, why would he leave his card behind? Strange.
Strange.
That's what I said, strange.
I know, it's strange.
Suddenly feeling unsteady on your feet, you brace against anything nearby. What is going on?
Wait for it.
Wait for what? Without warning an overwhelming wave of nausea hits and you helplessly double over and vomit.
Time to get a move on.
The steady white glow of the detective's card stands out against the dark paneling of the door.

Ashford crumples forward as the stolen blood in his stomach bursts from his mouth in a wide, long spray.
He groans and collapses, lashing out at one of the seats, bending yet another one.
"Jesus fucking christ... JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!! I am getting so goddamned sick of this!!! I swear to god, if one more fucking thing happens without a fucking answer, I am going to tear someone's fucking arms off, present, FUCKING, company excluded. JESUS christ."

Victor pulls himself up by the armrests of the chairs and barely is able to compose himself. He then looks over to Ashford and grins. "Like wise sentiments sir, at least we are past the tough love and beat the tzimice phase"
Victor stands up right trying ti stifle the feeling anger of being violated and setup again and again. "I do not even know where to begin to hunt down this degenerate fuckass."

Sayuri covers her mouth with a newly blood drenched kerchief, composing her thoughts and steadying herself against the wall of the atrium.
"Again, again, and again. You would think our forebearers would have more class than a child playing with a magnifying glass around ants."
She lets out an indignant groan and goes back to cleaning herself up, and fixing whatever makeup is smudged.

The business card contains the detectives phone number, glancing at the back reveals an address scribbled quickly along with the words: Staggering Jerry's Pub.

Victor walks over to his recovering partners and shows the back of the card. "So, I guess that we have our first direction if we are ready for more"

Ashford stands slowly, shaking his head.
"No. Fuck that. I got a stake in how things go in this town. I'm not about to waste my fucking time chasing snipes for no goddamn good reason."
Just in case, Ashford writes down the location in a notebook that seems to appear out of nowhere, as well as the name and number of the detective. Can't be too thorough.
"I have shit to do. you guys find anything that happens to be worth a damn, you know my number."
Ashford heads for the door, pausing to grimace a bit in sympathy.
"Sorry about your girl, Ben. Ring me if you need me. I'll be there."
Clapping Ben on the shoulder, Ashford heads for the exit.

Over his shoulder, as he leaves, Ashford casts a card.
One side is blank, and indeed, with the side it landed on, it is identical to a Jack of Hearts. When you flip it over, it says simply "The Connection"- And a phone number and e-mail.
