When I tested it the problem was that moving onto the barstool was different in location to sitting on it.



That's what I said, animation location is different between animations. Either idle animation needs to move forward a bit or moving into animation needs to move backward.

I tried "x y z" tricks on interestingplacetypelist.txt but sadly it didn't work. Trying to correct the animation by decompiling didn't work either. DDLullu could probably do it but I am not sure how. Sad part of it is, barstool animation doesn't have the same issues with placement and it never blocks the players path. If we can fix the animation it should be usable as is.


Most of them are used! Tawni's boyfriend is watching TV and the player is swimming. LaCroix and other NPCs are sitting in different poses. Thugs at beachhouse and warehouse are playing cards and a guy in the Last Round is playing pinball.


You misunderstood me, but it is my fault for not properly explaining what I mean. Even if these animations are used somewhere in the game they
do not appear in interestingplacetypelist.txt, so they cannot be assigned and used by NPC's in game.

For example, you can assign watching TV animation in internet cafe and NPC's can randomly sit down and watch TV.


I am not saying we should do that, I am just saying it is possible.


Any news on that? Because  I will not restore irrelevant sitting NPCs while adding actual bugs for player movement!


Sadly I cannot replicate what I did and I have been trying. I have started to think if I solved it some other way without realizing it, maybe I disabled NPC collision somehow? (Is that even possible to do inside Hammer? I really don't think so but Bloodlines version of the engine is weird.) Lets shelve it for now and I will get back to you when I solve it.

I don't think even he can change animations. Also we still see the barstool idle animation elsewhere so not much is lost!

I think you wrote something about changing the collisions of the seats which could be done in Hammer, but which I wouldn't do because it would need a recompilation of the map.

Are all idle animations that was on earlier bloodlines versions used for Pcs?
There was a folder on patch extras, Original Python files. does quests mentioned in these files also have quest logs?
There is a pretty interesting script about Lasombra attacking after Andri death, does function of this script is the same as Library quest Lasombra?

It is not the same, is it? It is a barstool animation set, only a single part of it is used in game, but for another purpose entirely.

I think the main problem is, I did my tests with Hammer and that produces wildly unpredictable results. I thought min/max bounds and placement was the key, but I might have done something that can only be done in Hammer. There is no knowing until I can replicate it.

Would it be possible to do 1rst person bloody arms for bloodshield and using a gun? Or are those impossible to change out?

Ah, I see. That's easy enough to fix. At least relatively speaking. Let me know if you would like that restored.

I had more success tonight, but I was only able to reduce it, it is not at all like the first time. If only I knew what I did to make it work in the first place. I will keep looking into it, but I am out of ideas. I wish I had saved it.

You are free to try, but it seems to me that there is another problem namely that the glasses keep vanishing once animation is over.

NPC's do not need to use PC's that are on (what I mean is, they need to look like they are on but not usable by PC, like TV's.), there just needs to be something on the screen. Something that indicates only NPC's can use it, like a picture of some kind. Like a green dos screen I attached. This would be easy to do and we wouldn't need to recompile the map to do it.


As for sitting and using the PC, we would only need to do one NPC and sitting animation also includes animation for getting up. Shouldn't be too difficult.

If you can get it to work I can always include it in the next release candidate, I'm sure that there are still some to come ;).


I know we have all the time in the world, it is just frustrating that I cannot do something I did just to try it.  :)


I know a solution will come to me sooner or later, but until then I will keep trying. I even tried to somehow disable NPC's bounding box (believing issue might be related to that) but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Btw when you tell Shu that all frogs must go back to water, shouldn't he go into water like the other guy that is already there??or does this not happen because of NPC stuck problem?

Really? I never really noticed. That is another issue for me here, we would do a lot of work for a feature that most people won't even notice! Yes, we did that very often already in the patch, but the differences are getting smaller and smaller with no effect on the gameplay and the work involved gets more and more. This is the same as with all the people complaining about clones or weird behaviour with Cyberpunk 2077 pedestrians! I have no time to notice this when playing the game ;).

This would mean changing the PC monitor model,  so if you want to do it, I can take a look. Still we would need to make sure that once the shooting starts, these PC can leave their seat and flee! Otherwise it would look stupid. In case of Arthur I actually use two NPCs that I switch, the plus one only who starts at the computer and the original one. It would be a lot of work to do this for some random NPCs that don't really matter...

To do that he would have to open a door and I'm pretty sure that frogs are not able to do that ;)!

I am quite happy that Patty path is changed(because it was really a waste that, dark alley was not used) and book sell problem is fixed.

Oh, I forgot that he does already open the door. I would guess the problem is to get him over the wall of the pool into the water, as I don't think there is a climb or jump animation for NPCs...

Yes, that was what i meant. i think there is jump animations, i am not sure however.
Another cool thing that you can restore, in ash sewers, the train is meant to be used as weapon by Pc, at the moment for me it's not like that, the trigger seems to happen when you are fighting beneath  so you miss the chance of using it. again maybe my game is bugged but if not i suggest this:
Make trigger to happen when you are upstairs, and make train to pass more than one time.
