Unoffical Patch - Issues installing
« on: May 16, 2020, 11:29:07 pm »
Hey so I'm sorry if I'm actually being fucking stupid.

But I downloaded the newest patch off Moddb and nothing happens. I've tried running the .exe from my desktop and downloads, as both regular and admin and nothing happens.

Am I doing something wrong? Does it not need installing?

What do you mean, nothing happens?
If the install program doesn't play there is probably a problem with your antivirus software. If you have downloaded into a subdirectory of c:\program files, that may cause problems, too.
If the installer executes but the game doesn't change you might have installed into the wrong directory. Make sure the patch is installed into the directory where vampire.exe is located.
If you have the GoG version and you're using Galaxy make sure auto-update is turned off.

If this doesn't help, we need more info.
Which OS? GoG, Steam or some other version of the game? What AntiVirus software? Anything unusual with your hardware or system configuration?

When I click the downloaded .exe, nothing happens. Is there supposed to be an installer - or is it straight up downloading a patch, as with any other mod.

It's downloaded straight into Downloads.

More information:

OS - Windows 10, current version
Steam - Updated as of today
AntiVirus - AVG, updated too.

Never had any issues with any mods or anything previously, even when modding other games directly in the D/C discs

You have downloaded an installer that will let you select the setup you want to install and then copies the files to your game directory.
Due to the size of the file, it may take some time for the program to start, but you probably have taken that in consideration.
Have you tried redownloading in case there was a download error? Other than that and maybe disabling your anti virus while installing the patch I have no further ideas how to help. Sorry.
