Sound Effects with Incorrect Volumes?
« on: April 29, 2020, 04:47:25 PM »
First, thanks to everyone who have made this an even better game over the years.

Now, does anyone else experience volumes on certain sound effects that are inappropriately loud?  The main example is during the tutorial, when the Sabbat thugs take on the Sheriff.  The sound from the two machine guns is substantially luder in my game than the same effect is anywhere else.  To avoid disturbing other in my house, I have to decrease my volume by over half.  My best guess is that this is because there are two guns, but it really seems laud enough to be out-of-place with the rest of the game's sounds.

Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just my game?  Is this something the unofficial patch might be able to fix?

Edit:  Using unofficial 10.6 plus, x20 basic + plus.

That sound effect is quite overloaded indeed, I will fix this in the next patch update.

Thanks very much!

Another especially loud sound effect is during the network hub quest in the Nocturne Theatre.  The footsteps are loud enough to sound like the guards are next to the player, even when they aren't.  I also think I heard several footsteps at the normal volume occasionally mixed in with the loud ones.

The rest of these may just be my old ears, but I thought I'd mention them:
Therese, Jeanette, and Tourette convos in the Asylum seem a bit loud. (The highest pitches cause my speakers to crackle for a moment.)
Knox in the Asylum, on the other hand, seems a bit low and hard to hear over the music.
One of the cops outside the parking garage (by the pier/beach) was a bit hard to hear, especially if there's rain. (Lines around "head was missing...")

And thanks again for all you've done Wesp!

There are no special footstep sounds on this map, these are just the normal guard footsteps!

This is too subjective for me to change...
