Some Questions About Weapons
« on: July 30, 2019, 06:40:30 PM »
(I was originally going to put this in Bloodlines Modding, but decided on putting it here, instead... although I'm not sure which ultimately would have been a better forum for it...)

1) What determines the fire rate of a ranged weapon (low, medium, high) and how can I edit/change it?

2) What does it mean if a weapon shows up with name and description data missing in the inventory/sell menu, but the item text file for it exists in the vdata/items with all relevant data filled in? How do I fix it?

3) A weapon has the wrong picture in the inventory/sell menu. How do I fix that so it's the right picture there?

You must have edited something wrong. Normally it should be obvious where description and icons are defined in the text file. As for the firing rate, I have no idea. It might be hard-coded...

In this case it's not my edit. The Final Nights has the text file the Chang Blade... it looks the same as the one from UP+. The problem is that the name (Broadsword) and description don't show up in the inventory menu when I grab it through the console.

Also, the picture in the Inventory menu for the Sheriff sword is a regular katana, even though it shows when equipped as the correct sword. It's the icon in the inventory menu that's wrong.

I'll look at the text files again...

As for fire rate... I assumed it was something in the text file because certain mods have different ranged weapons in place of what the game had originally, and those weapons have different fire rates. For example...

item_w_thirtyeight is a different gun in different mods. Some have a high fire rate, while others have a medium fire rate. I was wondering how that was done...

I think the parameter "attack_rate" is that you're looking for...
