Poster Session - Missing Posters
« on: January 11, 2018, 01:38:05 AM »
I have tried opening the console and adding G.Gary_Voerman = 1, G.Velvet_Poster = 1, G.Gary_Photochop = 1, G.Gary_Damsel = 1, G.Gary_Tawni = 1, G.Gary_Imalia = 1, so that the posters show, but only the first four posters show up in the havens.

I can complete the quest, but the posters are not there. I am using patch 9.9.

Can anyone help?

Why did you use the console in the first place? Because of the fleshy ball not being taken?

No, I know there is a bug with the fleshy ball that breaks the other poster quests.

The quest started, but wouldn't progress.

If it didn't progress after the Fleshy Ball is in the mailbox, type the following into the console before putting it in:

G.Ball_Taken = 1

I think G.Ball_Taken = 1 if he has the ball and wants it removed, G.Ball_Taken = 2 if he wants to skip it.

You need to have the ball sitting in the mailbox for this to work, then exit the map and come back.

You need to have the ball sitting in the mailbox for this to work, then exit the map and come back.

You know, this is actually a mildly annoying part and illogical of the game that could be better?

Pc comes home from quest,
drops quest item on mailbox
exits (illogical as hell)
turns around and enters again (even more illogical because the nosferatu ninja was ready to remove the item during the 5 seconds this took but not during the 5 minutes you spent checking emails).
checks mailbox and / or computer email for reward.

Imagine this 'alternative' (the first would still work, just additional code).

PC comes home from quest
drops quest item on mailbox
goes to *check* email in computer
code that usually runs on map load to setup those quests runs on computer start (i don't remember how this is done, but know that it can be done)
email with xp rewards done, quest complete notifications got etc
PC comes down and extracts money reward, if any.

Isn't it also logical? The courier got the item while you were checking the computer. By invoking the code to run on the computer the idea is that it would work on any haven (and target the current mailbox).

Why wasn't this done from the start, is there some kind of problem spawning mailbox items after the map load?

Interesting idea, I'll see if it can be done. I think the original concept was to have the player do some missions and find the item when he get's back which would be the normal way of things in real life...

OK, the mission is complete and have all the posters, so it's fine.
Although the mail box still has the magazine, ball, and star in it.

Perhaps illogical, but python run commands when you enter in a map, thats the reason, is the same with werewolf blood....

Yes, i'm aware.

If they really wanted to make it something you can do casually and didn't have 'software limitations', the obvious thing to do would be placing the mail slots outside the haven on the street (more believable too). You'd pass by drop the loot, go do something else in the hub (or enter the house) and the stuff would disappear when you exited the hub map. Apparently, hubs don't have a 'exit' trigger though.

The above suggestion of 'computer triggers change and completion' is just a workaround to make it a bit less insulting of the player time, where if you want to be efficient, you:

go in, put stuff, go out, go in again, get money, check email, get xp, go out.

When it could be :

go in, put stuff, check email, get xp, get money, go out.

The superfluous area transitions are especially annoying if you have a terrible computer like mine.
