Load and Save Screen Lockup
« on: February 11, 2019, 06:01:30 PM »
Every so often if I save a game or I am jumping to another section that requires the game to load, it sometimes gets stuck at the "Loading....." screen.

So far, the only thing I can do to fix it, is to tab out of the game, then tab back into the game and usually doing this about 4-5 times will fix the load issue and I'm able to get back to playing.

I have changed the resolution to be that of my monitor from the default game one, but not sure if this is causing the issue.  Tried looking in all the help sections and bug fixes and still haven't seen this situation being mentioned (most the others deal with crashing and my game doesn't crash).

I also haven't left the game on the loading screen when the issue happens for awhile to see if it finally ends up loading (think the longest I've waited is about 20 seconds, before doing my usual fix).

It's just kind of a pain having to tab in and out 4-5 times each time the load issue comes up and was hoping there might be something better out there to fix this issue.  Now it doesn't happen every time, many times the game saves or going from one area to another works perfectly fine, it just seems random and not tied to specific areas if that helps...

The auto save when it does its job saves your games after loading a map and so takes more time on loading. Maybe it's the saving process which slows your pc. Try to wait the end of the loading without using the alt+tab thing, how much does it take?

Well sometimes I'll get another screen (like part of the Troika Logo) or more often just the loading screen and I can hear everything in the game as it's still playing in the background.  Those times it lasts indefinitely, I can also pause the game and get to the main screen (judging by the sounds), but the visuals are locked up.

I've let both types of screens sit there for about 5 mins and nothing happens.  When I do tab in and out several times, I'll get a monitor notification saying the suggested resolution should be 1920x1080, but then after that it'll work fine.

I had issues with the resolutions before so using the suggested one, but still getting the same issue.

No choice to turn off auto-save that I see, if that in fact is part of the problem...

Try instead lowering the resolution
And while you are at it the graphic details too. This solution, in my experience, is always worth a try in all games

Nope didn't do anything.  Even turned shadows to simple and graphics down...

It's a custom built gaming computer, so here's all the specs below.

I also found out when the load screen issue happens, if I just click on the VTMB icon in the taskbar 10x quickly, it will then after a few seconds re-activate the game like normal.  Did that last night and worked every time, but still a pain, but better than my previous method...

So the possibility of low requirements is out of question
But I don't have any other suggestions :/ maybe someone else can help you
(The only thing I can think is you are using win10 but even if that's the problem the only solutions are installing another OS in a new partition or a virtual machine....)

Right now my mp3's all open default in VLC Media player.  Do I need another program to play mp3's then?

You don't need another media player, you only mustn't play any sounds from the game otherwise it will crash! This is valid for the MS player, but not e.g. for the Mediaplayer classic which I use. I don't know if the VLC Media player creates the same problems...

Or if you really want to listen to soundfiles oputside the game, set the read-only flag first.

i am not sure if vlc changes anything but just to be safe you should do what malkav and wesp said in future.
for now since i think it's late i would suggest installing vtmb in another folder and then replacing your current sound files with them.

perhaps wesp should set the read-only flag using next version of patch?
