Nothing. The unofficial patch ruined lot of things already by adding things that don't belong to the game. I guess you'll be giving the havens free for all clans next?

Everything Wesp did in the Basic Patch was intended by Troika. I have gone through many of the game files, including what I can get out of the binaries; and for example gaining a new discipline is clearly part of Troika's scope for the game.
Hell, Inquisitors and Numina were intended to make it into the game at some point (maybe expansion).
You can change your clan to Yuki for example from the console and you will see that the interface is already inplace only the exact files are missing. (If they were only meant as NPCs, there would be no need to create a character sheet for them.)

So if you don't like Wesp's work, then you probably also wouldn't like what Troika would have done with the game if they were still in existence.

The hunters and their Numina were intended for the multiplayer part of the game which was cut, but whose basics can already be made to work. Just check the UP readme for details!

I don't know if you're still reading this or not, so:

1) I vote for animalism. It's pretty much the same thing as thaumaturgy with different graphics.

Nice, versatile, useful discipline. It's the 'blood cost' that keeps them off the "wheel"l, so as long as that doesn't change, the disciplines will still all be available. Zero and Malkav may have to cut it out in CE and TFN for that reason, but you can give all 12 disciplines to any clan in clandoc if you want to (you can only add dots to the first nine though, last three are 'hidden' by the GUI) - I don't think that means that they were meant to have that many though  :taunt:

2) Yes, you're modding. Nothing wrong with that, but at least accept it. People who just want bug fixes and no changes are playing Tess' patch instead of yours. "Restorations" by their very nature require judgement calls by the person doing the restoring, and they will change gameplay: otherwise why bother 'restoring' the stuff in the first place?

3) That out of the way, I always vote for bug squashing over new content. New content always means new bugs, which can get compounded and make the old bugs harder to track down and kill. I know because I used to do that for a living, and I always hated old codebases that had been added to ad hoc over time.

Slow down and move faster.

I ended up giving different disciplines to different clans: Animalism for Brujah and Ventrue, Fortitude for Malkavian and Nosferatu and Protean for Toreador and Tremere.

People who want to do that play the basic version of my patch because it fixes much more :)! And of course I am aware that the plus version is in modding territory.

There are not many bugs left in 8.6 that we can fix, at least I haven't been noticed of many yet ;).

Your basic patch also changes much more. Just being honest.  :chinscratch:

My advice to new players is always:

1) Play with Tess' patch (playing with no patch is simply not an option - I think everyone agrees on that)
2) Then play with Wesp's Basic Patch. (now you've got two 'baselines' to compare)
3) Then try Wesp's Plus Patch or Camarilla Edition or whatever mod(s) strikes your fancy*
4) And save playing a Malkavian for last, because once you play them, all the rest suck.
5) Finally, read my guide to modding the text files and start making your own creation.

* Only try Tess' Megamod if nudity doesn't bother you (and unfortunately, it's more than just tits - he really went overboard in Vesuvius - and I called him on it). But you gotta give the guy credit - he's a professional level texture artist. It takes a top-end gaming rig (by today's standards) to play this, since he didn't bake anything down, but damn! everyone looks so good.

That may be true, but my basic patch is getting basic more and more with each release and you should neither base judgement on a version you played years ago, nor on comments or analyses from "True Patch" supporters. Most of the time, they don't even understand my readme at all ;).

Do we have to start the whole issue from the old planet-vampire forums again?
This thread is a poll asking for input on future versions of the U-Patch. If you don't like it, then don't vote.

I know I'm late, but I'd vote for obfuscation, with that many "stealth" missions, it would be very welcome. After playing with a malkavian, I don't know what would I do without auspex and obfuscation

IF - IF - the player-character in Bloodlines were to get a new Discipline, I would rather see access to one of the three Physical Disciplines rather than a Clan-specific Discipline like Protean or Thaumaturgy. This is much more fair to all the player Clans, are theoretically easier to pick up and learn in tabletop lore, and won't be as game-breaking as taking on Thaumaturgy or Necromancy or other powerful blood sorcery. Bloodlines is a half-RPG, half-combat game, so any physical discipline added would be much more in line with the game's actionful nature (and I recommend making it a selection of the three physical Disciplines; if a player-character already has Celerity, Fortitude, or Potence

I voted the middle option but I wouldn't mind this idea too.

On a long-dead note, Melinda Galbraith, the Regent of the Sabbat and a Toreador antitribu, knows Protean.

Yeah, a 5th Gen, millenia old Toreador, embraced by motherfucking Helena, is totally relevant to a week old embraced local blacksheep Toreador of an unstable city with a high death rate :p :)
Canon NPCs are not a good example :)

(nice necromancy yeah ^^)

Probably a bit late, but as a die-hard Tremere fan and stealth gamer I would love to see some way for my characters to gain Obfuscate, to make the basement of the museum a lot easier (it's easy to get the book but a real pain in the tush to access the computer and disable cameras while Trance is running out its miniscule duration).
