Concerning the ressurection of music from the CD to aide in our War on Crashes...

Yes.. yes.... i erratically attempted to nail this every other path (short of bleaching the garment completely).. Much tickled was i to find it wasn't necessary. Psilly me neglected to sketch a mental note upon treading your golden showers of wisdom.

But even stranger (or more maddening) came upon me the revelation of HOW my Fraunhofer trax got altered..

The calendrical rotation of the earth marked the tainting simultaneous with my previous munching of the frequency sequence in the surgeon general's default fonix decoding device (Windows Media Player). In other groupings of letters, the program pissed in the music fyle upon loading it, rendering subsequent attempts to load the corresponding world in the interactive bloodsucker-simulator a one-way ticket to desktopville.

Had i been preparing to anticipate this vile corruption, it could have saved me many fractions of a starlit night from needless tw33xing. However, in the process I have managed to increase the speed with which the frames of my mental slideshow be flippings - so at least partial vitamins were absorbed through my unlimited attention tracts.

On behalf of all turing-fault victims,
I fank you many time overs!

 Signed,
 ACK!

Several people have mentioned that moving your swap file onto another partition really helps gameplay.  Here's my question: when I got this computer, I (stupidly) did not bother to create another partition, and so I've been using it with one big C drive.  If I add another partition now, will it wipe out my hard drive?  (I'm using roughly 20 of my 40 gigs).  If it would wipe out my HD, then I won't bother, but would it still be useful to increse the swap file size, or can that large of a swap file not effectively run from the same drive as Windows and the game?

 Thanks.

In terms of maximizing performance for this game, Increasing your swap file to the recommended size is far more important than sticking it on another partition.
In general, it IS a good idea to have your OS on a different partition, but that's another story.

Hmm...Haven't looked into this in a while, but if you
really want to mess around with your partitions, you might look at Norton PartitionMagic or something similar.

Otherwise, set the swap file to the recommended size and just de-frag your HD as needed.
And of course check out the tips in this forum and others re: boosting performance.

 Good Luck,

 Adrian.

 TheGreatHegemon!

Ok! So, I've been having trouble for quite some time, but I've finally solved my crash! Let's get this started, then!

The first one is something that has been posted elsewhere, but I didn't see it in this board. I take no credit for this first fix.

Problem 1) Game gives an illegal operation and then quits while starting up.

Solution 1) Use a NO-CD Image from GameCopyWorld, or use a fix EXE. This seems to be an issue with CD authentication. I myself use the NO-CD. Daemon works well for this.

This second one is an issue I was having, and I have not thoroughly explored it, only found a basic fix.
Problem 2) Game crashes after pressing 'New Game', briefly shows the loading screen before doing so.

Solution 2) Fresh install. I've installed up to 1.2, I've not tried the unoffical patch yet. MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU USED ENGLISH(US) FOR THE ORIGINAL INSTALL THAT YOU DO THE SAME FOR THE PATCH! Also, if you are using any non US language version (Even UK english) that fixed .exes are liable not to work properly.

There should really be a specific sticky just for crashes and the fixes for them.

Oh, and for the guy who couldn't install 1.2: The reason you can't is because you have modded files of some sort, eitehr a fixed exe or maybe you installed the 1.6 unoffical before the 1.2. Reinstall clean and then install 1.2

Hey has anyone had a problem with textures in the mouths of models in the game? Just about every character in the game has no texture in their mouth when they open it, meaning I see a pinkish, annoying line all the time. It just really detracts from the realism and stuff.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I don't know about the firewall, but to run this game
in XP i had to use Win 98 compatibility mode.

                Hello!
I'm new to the forum, i have a problem with teh game,it run smoothly for me, but i'm arrived at the Fu Syndicate in chinatown, when Fu put you in that nice rooms to test you, i pass the first two rooms, the one with ultraviolet light and the one wih the lasers, but when i arrive in the third room, the one with the rotating blades i can't get out of there, i tthought that passed the rotating blades the door on the other side of the room would open, instead i remain in the room dodging the blades for a lot, but nothing happen.. is it a bug? or have i to do something in that room ?

 thanks!

You must unleash your rage three times against the wall, to your left as you enter the room...I used a gun, but I'm sure a deftly hurled frying pan would work, too.

Hey, I'm having trouble with my game, and I have no idea how to fix it. When loading the game, I must have Windows Media Player running otherwise I will have no sound in the game. But if I try entering the Downtown area, in the loading screen, the loading bar fills, and then the game crashes. However, if I don't use Windows Media Player to give me sound, the Downtown area loads fine. It's confusing the hell out of me...

Had a problem getting into zhaos import thing but got round it by using the "changelevel2" command, although the dialog thing didnt work properly (didnt zoom up to his face) and the tong gang didnt arrive to kick ass, i sut walked out in silence. Then the Glaze club door says #Error# and wants a 4 digit code (the one Zhao gives you doesnt work), so again i used the "changelevel2" command to get into the club, all is fine till Johhny wants to talk to me. View doesnt zoom up to his face, The Mandarin doesnt appear on the screen and the game just hangs when Johhny is supposed to try and shoot me. The console left a message saying something like couldnt play "JohnnyEndDialog" and the mandarin TV being off or something.

So, basically, i cant get past this dialogue section. Using noclip before or during doesnt help...i was wondering if anyone had any clues as to how to fix this problem?

                Hi!
I know that I am interrupting someone else's problem, but I have been on this for hours and am increasingly frustrated...
Basically I have a dodgy version of Vampire Bloodlines in that when it installs on the second disc...it says it cannot find the file
PACK000 CAB Cabinet File with the error 1335
 ....
I have tried this on TWO other friends computers worked perfectly...
My computer is prettty good I can play Black and White 2 perfectly...
I did try and solve the problem by making .iso files on burnt cds and then installing it and the first time it worked, but now it just seems to stuff up with that same error...
Furthermore I try to copy the .iso files to my actual computer and it stops halfway through disc 2 saying "cyclic reduncy check"...
I'm pretty much broke, so I don't want to buy another copy...if anyone helped they would officially rock.
 Thanks
