Basic patch conflict?
« on: October 11, 2016, 07:14:24 pm »

Hello.
Some of you may remember me from the old PV.

I recently picked up the game on GOG and installed the basic patch version.
Everything was going fine 'till I left the nossie haven and took a cab downtown.

At that point, two strange things happened: 1) upon exiting the cab, I got a humanity Loss(?)
2) I tried to enter Club Confession and got a CTD with an engine error message along the lines of areanum>numberareas.

I googled the exact message and discovered that this problem could be caused by changing patches mid-game.
I know better than to do this, but I did change the way I launched the game from using the desktop icon to using the games menu.
I noticed on the games menu it said Bloodlines classic or something.

Here's my question: if I use the desktop icon to launch and go back to my last save prior to switching launch methods, should I be okay, or do I need to start a new game.

TIA

I'm not exactly sure how the GOG version is set up but going back should be fine.

If I'm not mistaken, what GoG calls classic is the official patch only. So by using that you have accidentally switched to a different version.

I think that is correct.
What's confusing is that my desktop icon would launch the version with Wesp's Basic patch, while the icon in my games folder
would launch the official patch version.  That's how I got messed up.

Go figure.
