True Protean Beta Mod ready for testers

Thats a choppy Video showing the three levels of protean changed by my mod. The first two levels went unaffected.

III.- Earth Meld - Sink in the earth, can't attack, can't move, can't be attacked, but you can use disciplines.

IV.- Wolf Form - Uses Raptor Red's Wolf Protean Model

V.- Mist Form - Turn into a bloodmist that can't attack, can't be attacked, but can move wherever you want to. yay. And you can still use disciplines

Its in two parts because I had to edit the map files.

Just drop both archive files in your vampire directory and unzip.

This is the Beta version, so any problems you have you can either email to ventrueian@hotmail.com or post in this thread and I'll fix it as quick as I can.

That means for some reason it didn't load the python file,

EDIT: NO, check that, try this first. Go to the options menu, click set to defualt for the key settings. Then try again.Keep in mind it keeps up with your disciplines, so if your using another clan besides gangrel let me know, I might have to tweak it if your disciplines are diffrent then animalism, fortitude and blood bluff.

1) open up console
] clear
(this will clear the console window
2) close console and try again
3) open up console and there will be an error message. Tell me what that is.

You shouldn't be able to use Disciplines while in Earth Meld or Mist Form, except maybe Fortitude. (But if you can't be attacked, what's the point?) In Earth Meld, you're in a sleeping state "just above torpor", and it takes a lot to shock you out of it. Also, you can't move or look into an animal's eyes or speak with them, which means Animalism is out. I do like how you went into "Police Hunting" mode when you used either Earth Meld or Mist Form, though. Keep that.

--Earth Meld: Could you put in an object that's like a small mound of earth where you sink into it, just for kick's sake? It looks kind of weird that you just sink into asphalt without even the smallest disturbance. Unless you try really, REALLY hard (or take a Devotion in Requiem), you have to dig your way down to "natural earth" to use Earth Meld.

--Shapeshifting: The warform model is awesome, I like the even bigger, huger, deadlier claws, but a real wolf or swarm of bats/rats would be more canon.

--Mist Form: I like the "Police Hunting"/autostealth state, and I like the "bloodmist" idea with the reddened vision mode. I would actually ask that you take out the reddened vision mode when using Feral Claws or Earth Meld, if possible.

Would I be correct in assuming that since the poll at the top of the page asks about City Gangrel, you are in fact planning on including a wolf model for Protean 4, and the bloodline of City Gangrel (done proper-like) in this mod?   :vampsmile:

All in all, an incredibly drastic improvement (inclined towards canon powers) over the Protean Discipline that we received in vanilla Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Can you do Animalism next?   :cometome:

1) Yes, I'm adding a dog model for level 4 based on the pole. (the black rottweiler from the junkyard) :)

2) I plan on improving the particles, the beta was to make sure I got all the logic right. It worked perfect during testing, but its possible I didn't do something that will cause a bug someone else will do. And for earth meld I was thinking about making it a mound of dirt, so were on the same page. I didn't stick with cannon on the actual earth part because there just isn't enough places to do it :(

3) Now that you mention it, your right, your not supposed to be able to use disciplines on earth meld, will fix that.

4) I'm trying to take the heat vision out for those two, its the one thing Im still trying to find (thought I found it, I was wrong)

5) Yes, Animalism is next up. :)   The current Animalism isn't animalism, its Spiritus, so I've been wanting to change that for awhile, I just now got good enough to do it though.

this time it's a start

the animation of the earth meld Appeared But I continued to walk and Will Have normal form

mist continued on with the normal form But in the fog around the character

And so the wolf did not work

I noticed at no change to the earth and to meld mist

has no way to replace the last level for the first or other

Its still not executing the python script, the particles were the only thing that weren't in python.
What version are you running?
Unfortunately Protean is set in such a way you can only use the highest level you have.
Can you open up console?

Hmmmm... It seems like a lot of extra work, but could you give Gangrel a Discipline that has five separate levels, like Dominate, but instead re-name and re-do the effects of each level to make them Protean powers? That could give you access to individual powers, instead of the highest.
Ex: "Gangrel" will be given Animalism, Fortitude, and Dominate, only Dominate will be named "Protean", all the Dominate powers will be named for Protean powers, and all the actual effects will be Protean powers.

For Earth Meld, is there a way you can set it so you can only use it while in outside zones? Also, could you bump up the passive healing rate so there's a reason to use it besides stealth while standing still?   :vampsmile:

Earth meld only on outside zones, thought about, seriously, it would have been closer to cannon, but in cannon you had more of a chance as a character to get to dirt. The problem is some maps have outside and inside (luckystar, Cemetary, etc) And effectively you would be limited to using it on the three hubs, and a few of the first maps of levels (sp_giovanni1, la_malkavian1, sc_lop1)
I'm pretty sure I can bump up the passive healing

I know there is a way to change a discipline to active, I just not sure how. I only know you can because I did it on accident when I first started messing with disciplines. I'll dig back into, damn slave drivers. :p

Oh, and while we are on the topic, for the antitribu mod I've been developing a way to kick the 11 discipline cap thing, I'm thinking about testing it by adding another path of protean. It wouldn't be a cannon path, but  a shapeshifters deluxe of sorts started off with the smaller creatures the game has to offer moving up to the bigger. ie, the same animals you'll be calling fourth in the animalism I'm going to throw together.

after clearing you can move the mouse wheel with the console closed then check the console for errors.

Just to verify, you unzipped both of the archives, right? (three if you include the particle archive)

if it gives you an error, give it to me, if it doesn't, type this

Import TrueProtean.enslaveKeys()

at this point you should definitely see an error message if its not working

after it does that I would check your keys, if end discipline is still F8 then your good, if its blank, then reset them.
