I uploaded a small hotfix to the Nexus page for the installer problems when trying to install into a directory that needs administrative access, the problem that Christina_Romuald reported just above.

Wouldn't all this cmd stuff not have been necessary if you didn't decide to pack files into a vpk archive that must go into the vampire folder, but would have kept everything fine and orderly in your mod folder as all other mods do?

Well, I got it working now. Thanks Norrwin

In short no.

I needed an installer and it either works or it doesn't, every part of the installer was broken because of the way Windows handles CMD level administrative access, not just moving and renaming the pack file. I wrote an Article on the mod's Nexus page that comments on why I wanted to use the CMD file installer format.

The need for administrative access is usually predicated on the root folder, in this instance C:\Program Files (x86)\... not on the Vampire directory.

Why I choose to pack the files is a LONG story with it's beginning dating back to 2014 and my first Skyrim mod, but I don't think it is appropriate here.

Would you be interested in getting my InnoSetup script that I use for the UP to modify for your mod? Because I don't think I ever had similar problems...

Thanks! for sure if I ever intend to advertise the mod to players outside PlanetVampire I would need something like Inno and that would probably be a big help. For now I'm not planning to do that.

The mod was designed for an audience like here at PV in mind, people who have probably been VTMB fans for a long while and probably know something about VTM outside the game. As I said in the article:
Quote
The method for installing this mod was chosen to be as flexible as possible. Anyone wishing to examine the installer code can easily do so with a simple text editor...

It can be easily modified, or it can be ignored entirely and installed manually, it can even easily be installed without ModLoader support in the old way directly into the Vampire directory... although I don't know why anyone would want to do that... but they could.

Edit: I believe the CMD file problems with administrative access have been solved and the new installer has significantly improved error detection and reporting as well.

I'm at leopold's at this moment and I didn't found nothing significant about caitiff... just a couple of dlgs of the prince and beckett and a mail... There's some quest (new content related) I missed something or I must keep going?

If the mod is working and you are at SoL and you didn't see anything new or changed then you are playing in a way as to avoid every new content, which isn't actually possible. But not every new content is overt and a quest. So if some things are new or changed but not something you care about or notice then for you nothing seems changed.

Even so it is not possible to do the Sewers for example without noticing things are changed, I guess if you regularly use noclip to play you wouldn't notice.

You should have had a quest from Mercurio for a new Military Sniper rifle, unless he is dead or you never talked to him about getting special weapons. You should have new content for Tourette unless you didn't save her or you pissed her off somehow (reading some of her email would do it), you should have had a new quest for the Sewers shortcut unless you missed the note about it, you should have new content for Pisha unless...

Thanks for trying the mod and providing feedback, it is valuable for me and for others who may want to try the mod. If you are this far and haven't found anything significant I don't think going any further will make a difference for you.

Is good to know where I should try to find the new content, I think is hard to miss. I don't use no clip (except on sewer)Now I will try to speak with some of those npcs... I will give more feedback!

Ha! you are not having good luck with the mod, the one place you use noclip is the worst possible place for the mod

There are two puzzles in the sewers, not new but maybe not so common either, one leads to an occult item (the item is also not new, just the way to find it). The quest for the shortcut and blah, blah, blah... quite a lot is changed and it ends with quest shown in the teaser video from Gary. I don't think there is any way to avoid getting that quest... well if you noclipped through the sewers maybe that broke the quest, you should have it if you checked your emails... more bad luck  ... or a bug on my part    The quest from Mercurio for the rifle is also shown in the teaser.

The list I gave is only partial, maybe only 1/4 or 1/3, I'm not sure what a full list would look like. To find the most content in one game I would pick female with appearance 2 (minimum) and high seduction by mid/late game. Talk to everyone, pay close attention to what they say, pay close attention to the quest logs, be super nice to everyone, except Imalia. Thinking you know how the dialogue and quests will play out and speeding through them is a trap! It's a nasty trap because maybe 75% of the time you do know where things are going  :cheesy:

If the quest log says something specific and you fail to read or notice it, when the quest completes there will be no messages or any other trace of the missed opportunity. Thanks for being willing to continue trying the mod and good luck!
