Question Re Toreador Skin
« on: September 02, 2018, 07:06:44 PM »
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not....but just downloaded the toreador female skin from here:
https://legacy.planetvampire.com/modules/files/view.php?id=632

Not sure if it is a problem with the skin itself or just me...but am playing the museum level....the pants keep changing colors and the character's pony tail keeps bouncing around...going THROUGH the character and even splitting in TWO at times. Anything that can be done to fix this?

Try starting a new game just to check if the problem repeat, as I gather you continued a save after placing the skin files? If the problem persist on a new game, then it must be the model that has something wrong, or you who didn't place the materials and models files correctly?

The only issue with starting a new game....looking at the starting model...where you pick the character the armor (and hair is different) I'm currently using the second one in game. The first one does not appear to have the ponytail...so wouldn't give me the same results in a new game.

While not 100% sure...pretty sure I put them in the right place...as did the same for a brujah mod...which seemed fine though admittedly only played that one for a few seconds.

Make a backup of your clandoc000 file in vdata/system, then switch the armor_0 and armor_1 in these lines of the toreador entry:
Code: [Select]
"F_Body0" "models/character/pc/female/toreador/armor1/toreador_Female_Armor_1.mdl"
"F_Body1" "models/character/pc/female/toreador/armor0/toreador_Female_Armor_0.mdl"

Then armor_1, the second model will become the starting armor and you should be able to try.

I don't know what else to say, as if it is a model problem I can't help, I suck at modeling.
Just one thing, avoid to mod your game in a middle of a playthrough, maybe it doesn't apply to new models, but maybe it does.

Tried to change the armor types to see the mod on a new playthrough per your suggestion but, and it may have been somethign I did but just switching the numbers didn't seem to work...when I restarted the game I wasn't able to choose a female toredaor at all then....only a male  :(

Oh and if makes a difference was placing the toreador folder and corresponding armor files into their places in the unnoficial patch materials...models etc. folders
the vampire folder doesn't seem to have the materials, models, character etc. folders...only the unofficial patch folder.

I can't be specific about the model you have downloaded, but generally changing models or textures ingame is no problem.
For using /vampire or /unofficial_patch, the difference is that if you put it into /vampire it affects all mods and if you put it in /unofficial_patch it only works for the patch. If the subdirectories you need don't exist, just create them. If it doesn't exist that only means the game uses the original files from the vpk archives.

That sounds like you have accidentally deleted some " or {}, or maybe a typo in the path so the game doesn't find the model.

My bad, I forgot to switch the armor0 and armor1 as well. Corrected:
Code: [Select]
"F_Body0" "models/character/pc/female/toreador/armor1/toreador_Female_Armor_1.mdl"
"F_Body1" "models/character/pc/female/toreador/armor0/toreador_Female_Armor_0.mdl"

However if Malkav is right and changing pc model textures mid game is safe, then you should see the same pony tail problem. Maybe the author didn't think of playing in third person view and didn't realize what you describe.

Bummer...so sounds like it's a problem with the model and can't really be helped....too bad as really liked the look...though the most annoying was the ponytail splitting into TWO...looking like two ponytails  :P

Oh well...will just use the default one then... unless anyone knows of any other suggestions for skin mods..or knows of anyone who CAN fix it?
