NPCs and Smoke animations.

I see Thugs smoking cigarettes and blowing smoking is it possible to add just the smoke coming out of an NPC mouth? Every time I meet Mr Ox, he should be blowing smoke at least twice by my count, so it's really frustrating.

Any ideas?

YOu are looking to create a particle emitter. Check out hw_vesuvius_1, there is a "BlowSmoke_Emitter" defined in the map there. In sm_warehouse_1, there is also a CigGlow_SmokeBlow_Emitter.

I found these by using cygwin, and performing "grep -Hir smoke ." within the VTMB root directory. I am pretty certain that adding particle emmiters normally means editing maps.

As for doing it dynamically (without editing maps), it can be done, but you have to take advantage of a game bug and therefore the method is a bit unstable. I use the dynamic particle creation method in CompMod if the user finds the Spell of the Phylax and summons Boo. 

If you have Compmod sitting around, check out Vampire/python/vamputil.py -> showParticle()

I think you can also get people to simply blow smoke using an interesting place entity in the map for smoking. But then they will put a cigarette in their mouth too, if you don't want that, then it wouldn't work too well...
