New Sewer Quest, Taking Out the Trash
« on: August 17, 2016, 12:34:14 am »
In case anyone is interested in this quest I created for the sewers. Not really sure how to package this since every time Wesp changes one of these files in a new patch, it needs to be done again. I'll try to answer any questions.

New quest "Taking Out The Trash"
Collect the 3 Masquerade Violation reports (3 reports you find normally), the key and save the Nossie in the sewers. You will be rewarded with 3xp and 200g. When it comes to Tzimisce, personally I kill them, I kill them all!   :vampwink:

Normal Gary's dialog, when he ask why he should give you any information, slap his face and turn in this quest!  :taunt:

Issues: Quest isn't perfect but it works fine, basically I can't find a way to check if you saved the nossie in the sewers, so you can cheat if you want.

Add this line to the botton of Experince_table.txt /unoffical patch/vdata/system/ ...making sure to leave a space after the last line. So it looks like this. Don't actually use the Library02 line, it's there to show you spacing.

Library02 | Killed no guards at the library | 101

> Cleaner
> Total Experience Value: 2
> added by me
Clean01 | Cleaned Gary's Shithole! | 301

Make a new line in Gary's dialog line 355 with this. /unofficial patch/dlg/main characters/

{   355   }{I vanquished the Fiend and it's minions! Collected kindred secrets, found the key to this shit hole and saved your child! What did you do today, Boss?   }{   I vanquished the Fiend and it's minions! Collected kindred secrets, found the key to this shit hole and saved your child! What did you do today, Boss?   }{   371   }{   pc.HasItem("item_g_warr_clipboard") and pc.HasItem("item_g_warr_ledger_1") and pc.HasItem("item_g_warr_ledger_2") and pc.HasItem("item_g_warrens4_passkey")   }{   pc.SetQuest("Cleaner",1); pc.MoneyAdd(200); pc.RemoveItem("item_g_warr_clipboard"); pc.RemoveItem("item_g_warr_ledger_1"); pc.RemoveItem("item_g_warr_ledger_2"); pc.RemoveItem("item_g_warrens4_passkey")   }{   }{   }{   }{   }{   }{   }{   I vanquished the Fiend and it's twisted toys! Collected kindred secrets, found the key to the dirty rabbit hole and saved the voice's child! What did you do today, voice?}

The last 3 lines to quests_hollywood in /unofficial patch/vdata/system should look like this

      }
   }
}

You have to remove the bottom 2 brackets then copy this line, making it look like this. So this new quest will have the final brackets.

   }

   Quest
   {
      "Title"      "Cleaner"
      "DisplayName"   "Taking Out The Trash"

      CompletionState
      {
         "ID"      "1"
         "Description"   "Now I had to clean up Gary's shithole! Tzimisce everywhere, logs full of monster sightings and lost access keys. Did I mention it was a shithole?"
         "Type"      "success"
         "AwardXP"   "Clean01"
      }
   }
}

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

Hmm... it's possible to add new dialog to other npc, ex. Trip to make new quest(on early game progress)?

Thanks for the replies!

I don't think so dorumia. One of the ways Wesp does such an amazing job has been finding unused dialogues and then finding a place for them. Iirc, in some scenes there has been new voice acting. As an example, the cop in the tutorial. Personally I think it would be worth considering if there's an important scene that needs correcting. We as a community should try to contact the actual actors to see if they would help support the fan efforts to fix and improve the game, by recording a new line. The one that really stands out for me is Becket at the Museum, where he says "for 300 years" in fact it has been 800 years. So it would be really cool to get that recorded correctly.

The White Wolf wiki says that Beckett was embraced 1704, so 300 years is about right!

Wow, gtk thanks. Iirc, for years people have been saying Becket has been on this quest for 800 years. I figured it was true, doh.

In the dialogue Beckett says that his search for the truth behind the vampiric condition is lasting by from 300 years, and if necessary he will continue for another 300 years.
