Hey man, that upload site requires you to install spyware to use it. We can't see your screen shots like that. Surely there must be a better way?

Spyware ? I never installed spyware, at least not that I know off... Luckily, I think I found a site where I don't need to register. Let's see:

Yep, it works. The first link are the screenshots from the first post, second are the most recents.

Secondly, I have to strongly suggest you DON'T set players up to fail way after the fact. No matter how intuitive you think your quests are, people are bound to get confused, do something wrong, and there's nothing more frustrating than playing a game only to find out that your'e stuck with no recourse. If you want to screw over a player for making bad decisions, at least make the consequences immediate.

It's not that you are stuck per say, more like you end the game prematurely... but yeah, I imagine the frustration, I remember old adventure games with similar stuffs, I need to think further on this, find a compromise.

Yes! Kings Quest, Police Quest et all ... that's exactly what I was thinking about =D Actually Cracked.com just published an article in the last week or so talking about that exactly. Definitely I would urge a compromise.

Another suggestions, not sure if it's something you expect to do later or not, but the lighting in your maps. Lighting is so important, and adds such a dramatic effect to levels. If you aren't already planning on it, definitely think about adding lights and lighting effects to your maps.

I am feeling nostalgic each time I see mention of adventures games. Yep, I am trying to put together a alternative for those who woudn't notice the "smart" road, but  I didn't think of it in my original plans, and it's tough to come up with something good. The easy way would be to make the situation be winable, regargless of how illogic it would look, it woudn't look more illogic that the vanilla ending after all.

I plan to change the lighting later, this is part of the decorum details that bores me to do, but I realize it is necessary. There are also some sight seeing textures and entities on the exterior maps, that I hidded for the screenshots, because I need to polish them.

On the character modeling front: I thought I could handy something for a new character model, but my results are... erratic to say the least, it seem I can't even recolore a existing texture correctly, let alone reskin them... holy damn.

Aloysius,
Can I suggest my help with the lighting when I come back (at the mid of september)?
It's what I do relatively well, so it wont be problem for me, if you mark approximate visual style for certain place..

If you have time, that would be great! Thanks Psycho-A, I am working on the quests that take place on those maps now, I will send them to you when you get back, and will add some markers about the lighting styles. Let me know when the time is convenient.
I made some lighting on a other map, but frankly, I had troubles with the radius, and ended up doing it in a trial and error way until I got the wanted effects in game...

Badaway guys, if a person who know modeling wants to make one single female model for me, let me know and I will build you a golden temple filled with blood and all sort of niceties in about , euh, 50 years or so ? I know, but what is 50 years when you are eternal ?

Why not take the unused Sabbat female model you already showed in one of your screenshots? I don't know about the CQM but the UP only uses it once in the Hallowbrook Hotel where it can easily again be replaced by the original models in place there...

This model isn't really what I have in mind, I tried to rework therese textures model to get something as close as possible from Wanda Peck in Tex Murphy, Overseer.

But like I said, I suck at modeling, for the time be. I am not necessary looking for the exact same model of course, as close as it can be done.

Hey,

Sorry for the long silence, I losted notion of time, as far as bloodlines is concerned. It's not the only thing I losted, my hard drive has been corrupted and after a demotivation time, I decided to start again,  at a slower rate.

I am rebuilding this thing with some changes, most quests aren't the same than before, you could say there are more linear, and concepts for them are also different. (mostly to reduce the workload) But the main idea for the mod is still the same.
I really want to see this completed someday. More when the big mapping work is (re)done.

I know why troika didn't make any rooftop on the hubs maps, it's because making a sight seen that make you believe the map is in a big city is a pain in the back.

Don't know if this map will make it in the mod, I thought it to be a one time location for one or two quests, but it really is a lot more work than expected. There are four interiors too, on the same map. Maybe I will continue later, when everything else will be done.

^^^ Old post to reply to but... No, the map is capped off with SkyBox brushes so the game renders the map better. That, and the player never goes on the rooftops, so there's no reason to put anything that is really up there. The SkyBox just makes the city look taller/filled with billboards etc. while keeping rendering costs low by using a 1/16th scale (I think) size model of the upper region of the hub.

My new hub is going to be the same. I've never built a SkyBox before but I have a couple old HL2 tutorials so I'll pretty much be doing the same thing.
