Diplomacy through the ending
« on: August 21, 2016, 06:30:34 PM »
So I was thinking about modding and wanted to at least open the topic, if for no other reason than get an informed answer as to why this can't be done or why it would be a bad idea.

But I thought that I would ask if it would be possible to mod Bloodlines in a way that ensures that the end parts of it isn't just an essentially action flick? What I am wondering about is if its possible to mod the game so that instead of figthing the Sabbat, Kuei-Jin (or just their human servants+leader) and then LaCroix it would be possible to use diplomacy to solve these things rather than just fighting it through. I'm thinking of either getting allies to clear the way for you, or just engage the enemy leader in a dialogue, perhaps a fairly long dialogue with high demands on stats and where a wrong answer give you the Final Death, but where you can talk Andrei and Ming to get a peaceful or "peaceful" resolution and possibly even talk LaCroix into lowering his guard so that you can do that stabbing in the final sequence without having to fight your way through both his legions, the Ventrue guards and the sheriff before it.

I thought that I would at least ask about it.

Changing the dialogue files of the endgame enemies is easy, but without voice-overs this would never really fit inside the game and be visible as a fan-made hack only...

Thank you for the fast answer. :)

Personally I wouldn't mind having extensive new dialogue options, like the things mentioned above, also without voice-overs, but I understand that's not how others may see it.

It is also possible to get NPCs to fight on your side in the ending sequences in the mod. ATM was originally planning to do that but I guess it got scrapped. However, other mods in the future might have it to where you can ally with a faction and ask them about what kind of allies you'd like to go with.

That would be cool, although I still wish for a way to use diplomacy through the game rather than have it "degenerate" into an action flick in the end.
