Jesus fuck!

I haven't yet tried bumpmapping  (it's in the to-do list) but try to attach also the bumpmapped texture

 :vampsmile: vampire_nonsense has been a lovely wonderful all around awesome noodle and helped me fix the wierd glossyness. Basically painted on the wrong channel  :facepalm:

But, yeah, I've gotten the gloss & bumping to look quite decent.

It's just kind of subtle because the piercings are quite small and don't have a lot of surface area, but I think they look ok thus far? Now I should work on the actual body.

Happy to help! :D Those eyebrows and cheekbone contouring...  :rock: And the piercings! I really like the detail of the industrial.

Looks awesome!  :rock: Really love the piercings on her ears!

Also...could you possibly share the tips for getting this to work? I am also getting the shiny model of doom...  :facepalm:
Basically what I think is happening is that it's merging all my layers so that the alpha channel is lost (and I have tried following the instructions to the letter...)

EDIT: Actually I managed to solve the shinyness...but now neither the bump nor the envmap are showing... :irritated:

EDIT #2: Nevermind, I got it! It just wasn't showing in the SDK...

 :chinscratch:

SO! I'm -generally- quite content with my first skin for the malk gal. However, as expected, I ran into some trouble. Namely, her entire model seems to be transparent in places where it really shouldn't be.

The bump maps & spec seem to work fine, too! I did try removing the transparency from the VTF and this fixed it, but I want it to work due to an effect I added into her skirt (I gave her skirt some sticky outy straps  :vampsmile: ) basically I did this by removing a tiny bit of hem from her skirt and making the strap extend beyond it. Looks neat! This effect also worked properly before I added the bumps & shinies.

Any ideas how I could make this all work? I also tried "alphatest" which I've seen in some transparent skin bits but it didn't work either.

I've had this problem too. Basically, the only way I could make it work was by removing the transparency and just leaving "alphatest" there. It's not as good - edges aren't as smooth etc. But proper transparency has always lead to these issues for me. Although you said you tried that so...I'm out of ideas. :/

Try also transparency+nocull and alphatest+nocull (although I suspect the former still will not work....)

WHOOPS! Spoke too soon. The alphatest seems to have fixed it. So HERE IT IS, my skin.

I worked way too hard on this. There were moments when I was literally painting pixels. I will absolutely make more skins for more armors but for now here's just the first one. I'm not sure weather I should share this publicly since I haven't done her other skins yet, and this one changes her skin tone drastically. I also still need to draw in the inventory picture of her clothing and edit her hands. ANYWAY! Here it is :)

BONUS points to who ever recognizes that band symbol on her back - you are into old school deathrock  :rock:

I would have really wanted to actually give her a proper fishnet shirt instead of just mesh, but it looked honest to god terrible so I just went with the mesh. Also if you're wondering about the bat panties, they actually exist so I have to link them here! https://www.etsy.com/listing/186834855/vampire-bat-bikini-batwing-goth-panties?ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-3&frs=1

 :holy: That looks seriously amazing! You've got some skillz for sure, it's probably the best Malk skin I've seen.  :rock: I love all the little details, including the bat panties and the garter belt!

AW thank you so much, I really worked hard on this!

I want to make more skins for her and I already have some ideas - including a cybergoth one. I also want to try giving her a deathawk (thanks to Barabbah for showing me how!! <3) But for now I just wanna take her for a test drive :)

The models of the female malkavian armors are pants off terrible though, so my options are limited. I could perhaps use the cowboy outfit and edit it into a cybergoth one if i can remove the hat maybe?

My possible future plans also include:
Giving venus awesome punkish pants.
Giving VV pants/ leggings (don't get me wrong, I have nothing against her glorious butt but it always annoyed me how she attends court wearing her stripper outfit. You can dress provocatively in a better manner!) That having said I wish there was a way to dress her especially for that scene and then just have her be in her usual outfit when you enter the club.
Fancy up Therese's outfit a bit.
Maybe do something with Lily?
Edge Damsel up a bit.
Maybe something with Skelter? I wouldn't know what though.
Something with the ladies of the evening? Make one look classy, the other trashy.

Lots of ideas! Only problem with me is that I'm ridiculously slow :/ this Malk skin took me a week or so to make.

My first mod was actually her dress for the court.
If you want to use an alternate less provoking outfit only on that sequence there are 2 solutions:
- edit the map file of the theatre
- rename the folder of the VV original model (if present) as VV1, place the new model in a new folder called VV and rename the files with the names of the original files (so the game will use the modded one as default), then once you started the game and saw the intro, whenever you turn off the game rename VV as VV2 and VV1 as VV (if present in the first place). Yes, I know, this method may look coarse and stupid, but it works and it's easy.

To get VV another dress at the court, you don't have to edit the map. It's easier to edit the script.
You need /python/theatre/theatre.py. The file is plain text so you can use notepad, but I'd suggest notepad++.
Open the file and search for this function near the top:
Code: [Select]
#THEATRE: Assigns models to the seat fillers during the courtroom scene
def fillSeats():
    pc = __main__.FindPlayer()
    gender = pc.IsMale()
    clan = pc.clan
Now you have to add the model switch for VV. I'll do it right at the beginning of the function but you can also add it at the end or where you like. Just be careful with the indentation.
The regular vv model path is "models/character/npc/unique/Downtown/VV/VV.mdl" In this example I will use "models/character/npc/unique/Downtown/VVsuit/VV.mdl" for the better dressed version.
Code: [Select]
#THEATRE: Assigns models to the seat fillers during the courtroom scene
def fillSeats():
    VV = Find("VV")
    VV.SetModel("models/character/npc/unique/Downtown/VVsuit/VV.mdl")
    pc = __main__.FindPlayer()
    gender = pc.IsMale()
    clan = pc.clan
