LA Chronicle mod - if you want to continue playing

Dear all,

I present you my mod LA Chronicle, it allow you to continue playing after the end, for now no new quests are available, I have already few ideas, I will create new ones.

You need to have the UP mod first installed and this mod should be installed on top on it.

The version is 0.5 for now, it is the first release.

List of changes:
You won't see the end scene with Jack for anarchs / lonewolf ending
You won't see the scene at the end of camarilla ending
There is no possibility to open the sarcophagus by yourself (no point in dying ;) )
The sabbat / kuei-jin ending is not changed
Golden temple is closed
Ventrue tower is closed
Fu syndicate is closed but I might get it open if needed
Anarchs are not present in last round
Griffith Park is closed as there is no way to go back currently

I still need to do some minor polishing, like the Giovanni still partying or adding some rumbles in downtown map.
To install simply extract the zip on the UP folder, make a save before if you want to revert back quickly.
I have tested it but I miss some Nosferatu and Prince haven testing.
If you find any issue, please report here.

If you have a save game before the fight against the Sheriff, it will work.

The aim is to move to the events of the V5 version and have more quests and maps.

For those who want to try it, I am currently updating the mod from the beginning of the game, just be a bit patient I should have a version soon (I don't know exactly when).
Otherwise, I am including a saved game before the Sheriff fight, place it in your UP save folder and renaming it accordingly (make a save of the folder before)

I am still working on this, for now it should be fine up to before Hollywood map (after the museum), the maps are not great (copy/paste) as I am still learning but I think they are working, if people want to test please feel free, if you find any bugs or typo or anything else, please report it here. I will continue with Hollywood and Chinatown part next.
The quests are not yet implemented, I will implement them as the story goes.
The version is 0.6 as it is still in progress and will be incremental release until I finish at least some areas.
I list below the installation process as well as the lists of changes.

I would like to thanks Wesp5 for the UP patch as well as all the contributors of the SDK and Mod Dev Guide which was really helpful.

I am not used to release mods, so if you see something missing, please let me know.

The aim of this mod is to continue the game after the sarcophagus arc, as well as making some changes more inline with the V5 version of vampire settings as well as LA By Night show (LA is Anarch, Second Inquisition, Schrecknet hacked) It will add some new quests as well as some new areas

INSTALLATION
Get the UP from Wesp5 patch 10.5.3 available here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-unofficial-patch/downloads/unofficial-patch-1051
Install it in your vampire folder don't forget to select plus version
Create a copy and paste it to the vampire folder
Rename it as you wish I have named mine LA_Chronicle
Create a copy of the UP shortcut patch
Right click on the shortcut -> property
On target change the last parameter to the name of the folder ie -game LA_Chronicle
Extract LA Chronicle mod to the folder you created (you might open it with an archiver just to be sure)
Launch the game

SANTA MONICA
Change to have the game continue
Spoiler for Hiden:
Tourette will make peace by default
Change Tourette dialogue
Add domination of the player
Change in Bertram dialog
Change in Beckett dialog

Change Jeanette dialog + add a mail for managing the pendant if the player has give it to her

The sewer door (previously the Nosferatu haven) link both sewers
Nosferatu haven is now in la_hub_2 (Hub2) Mitnick finally manage to have the video working on tv
Added Toreador haven to be open after sarcophagus arc added dialog accordingly
Added Gangrel haven to be open after sarcophagus arc (will try to have it open before) added dialog accordingly
Added crackhouse in la_hub_2
Museum is linked to la_hub_2
By street end of the street without barrage
By sewer end of the sewer (not the one close to the Chinatown sewer map)
Come back is done by speaking to taxi
Renamed la_museum_1 to la_museum_2 to reuse the area later on

A small quest related to the spirit / Giovanni

Forgot to say that the Pasadena area will be more related to the new promise mandarinate.

I might had some new thin blood in SM pier without quest but it will be for V1.0 related to Jenna Cross.
Sending a last email that things are moving in Seattle :)

That's all I can think about it now, some of this are already implemented but will get trigger after sarcophagus quest end depending on the side you choose.
I am still missing the trigger email that will be at the end ;)

Reading all this I wonder if it wouldn't be better to turn this into a seperate sequel mod of some kind? I doubt that there are many players knowing about this before they finish the game, then installing it afterwards and continuing old saves will probably mess it up! Also I took a look at the maps because I'm curious and wonder why you decided to redo or split some of them. Couldn't you change all necessary things using Python? I like the idea of a Malkavian haven in the downtown hospital, but why didn't you place it in the old entry area? Also while the Toreador haven looks fine, it being the same as the Skyeline haven is boring! I always imagined to get Tawni's flat as a haven from Isaac after Tawni is gone...

The idea of the mod is more to be inline with the changes that happen in the lore and to be let's say a bit part of it. As an old roleplayer, I always find it a bit weird that the end finish like this, that's why I include some left over to clarify the situation and take opportunities to add few quests related.
I don't think I will add a lot of quests but people will have the opportunity to continue the game.
I am thinking of a sequel but not related to anarchs or something, I don't have so many ideas related to a full sequel at least yet, and I am not sure that I will have time before Bloodlines2 came out.
I will add a disclaimer telling this is not for the first game, but I think people won't go with this mod if they just start a game for the first time.

So yes some maps definitely needs improvement or been redone, if people want to help, please feel free to drop a message :)
The ideas was to get your haven on your own that you claim by yourself and not given by someone (except for the Nosferatu which is ok I think according to the lore), so progress could be done on this part, but sometimes ideas don't fly.
Also I want to free some of the maps areas like, 609, Chinatown and museum to add new areas whit new quests, so I came up with the ideas of the la_hub_2 which at least is graphically consistent with downtown area even if it is a reuse of buildings (that also Trokia do on their maps) at least it frees two areas easily.
At the begining I was thinking to redo the downtown hub but due to the water bug I give up, the sewer water are really fine in those olds hubs, hopefully Bloodlines2 won't have those kind of problem (I don't know Unreal engine).
Hollywood Hills make sense (it's stated in the quest related to Grout so I don't know why it ends over there) and Chinatown on a real map of LA is really close to downtown.
For the Malkavian haven It's here because, I will use the Hospital part in some sabbat scout left over quest, so I came up with this idea, it will be triggered after the sabbat in the hospital.
I really don't like the Gangrel haven as it is now, so I will try to redo a better map, but the story to get it I think is fine.
For the Toreador haven well I don't know I could make Tawni's haven, but I use it as a part of the left over quest (Anarchs / Camarilla side), so I got the idea of using it as an haven after, I could make the change to get Tawni's from Isaac by email.
There is still place for improvement for sure and will always be, I will see with V1.0 that might include it as well as some ideas that come up after, but first I need to finish at least the bare bone to see if it is fine and if people like it.

I am still learning (I don't have any chance to get a hand on scene for example) and alone it takes a lot of time, so at least for the work in progress version those changes are working even if they are not the best.

That's the main problem with your concept that I can see: If you install your mod after the normal game is almost over, all you changes to old maps won't be visible as their old state is stored inside the saved game...

It's great that someone is making new havens for the protagonists. Once I also thought about creating a "haven mod"(adding new havens to the game), but so far I've only one haven ready, and I plan to refine it and fix bugs...
In time, I'll try to do the rest. =)
