How to make common npc characters a pc?
« on: September 30, 2012, 02:21:08 AM »
To save some time I decided to ask this as I browse around the forums for an answer for this question.

I wanted to play through with some NPC commons I.E, prostitutes, ravers, strippers, bums, etc.

and every time I try, the in-game model is just big yellow "Missing".

To do that, you have two options. The first, and the technically easier option, is editing the clandoc file(located in 'vampire/vdata/'). It just involves changing the file references for the clan or clans you want to change, to point to the directory with the model in it. The only problem being, that this limits your options, and makes it so that you will look EXACTLY like the NPC model you want to use.

The second, is a bit more work, although it is fairly simple. It does not require editing the clandoc file, and thus if you back it up somewhere(say on a Flash drive or external HD), then it can be easily dropped into the game's directory, and it should work the same as before, without any problems.

For the second option, I posted something of a guide here - https://forums.planetvampire.com/?topic=6036.msg113287#msg113287.

I would like to make my character look like one of the raver chicks or dancers exact.
So would it be:

....../npc/common/raver/females/female_raver_2/female_raver_2.mdl
&
....../npc/common/dancer/female_3/female_3.mdl
