Exporting characer models
« on: November 18, 2016, 06:41:35 PM »
Hi, I was just wondering if there is an easier process for exporting character models than the approach I am taking. I am just using the SDK to export them. I can then import the 'charactername_ref.smd' into blender, but the model is pretty messy. My assumption is that I have multiple models on top of each other, different models for the different levels of detail.

If not I will just begin the clean up process by hand, but I wanted to check first!

So in case someone else has this problem, the solution was to use a source tool called "Crowbar", it extracts all the LODs separately leaving you with 6 separate SMD files, 1 for each LOD.

However... as is always the case there is a downside. UV map needing some tweaking. (moving and flipping, even then it isn't perfect but this was easier than sorting the mess I had before)
