• Hey. I was looking around this forum and noticed that no posts really related to the textures aside from the characters. I'm vain too, but I'd like to know if there have been any mods made that possibly double the resolution of the environment textures (buildings, etc...basically everything that doesn't move). I am considering doing this myself if it hasn't been done, are there Bloodlines tools available that would allow this procedure to be done? Links would really help me out here, thanks!

Hey Loch, good to see you again.

I`m sure someone can fill you in about this.

Never really bothered about modding this one myself, but I`m sure it`s possible.

Maybe Greywaste can help you out. (If he`s still around, haven`t seen him in a while).

Right on, and hey man...well I was thinking about doing what Qarl is doing for Oblivion's environment textures, basically making them more realistic (much too pixelated right now)...I'm totally surprised no one has tried it...maybe there are tons of textures? I'm extracting the vpk files right now so we'll see if I can work this out. Cheers man!!! Nice to see you hangin' round here still.

Ok well that was really easy to get all the textures extracted and I've got a few up in Photoshop...looks like I'll be doing a texture overhaul for Bloodlines, folks. I suppose I'll use this as my WIP thread now...

To give you a visual idea of my plan, here's a link:

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=601046

Look near the bottom of the original post, some screeshots are there showing the before and after of what Qarl did tot he textures...

My goal here is to bring that level of detail into Bloodlines...I'll be doubling the resolutions of most textures, and from the looks of it, possibly changing them up, removing some of that pixelated look. Cheers!

Great. Yeah, I`m still around.

Well, this is something to keep as eye on, hope you have fun with it, and I`m sure we`ll all be looking forward to what you can come up with.

Hi lochnarus, I've been doing the exact same thing you're thinking of: make the textures more detailed. I'm using reflection and normal maps (=bumpmaps) to achieve this. The problem is, though, that because I can't rebuild the cubemaps in a map, I'm currently pretty much stuck with adding normal maps to the game, but but having to manually light every single one of them.

VTMB does not rely very heavily on bumpmaps. Only a few 200 or so textures (of thousands) have been bumpmapped.

Well hey, why not work together? I could make the new textures and you could add normals & specular maps to them...just an idea...there are thousands of these textures (even tho not as many as oblivion shock )...

Yeah, some of the textures could use a rehaul tongue
How about you take pictures of the stuff that you think could use a new texture and I'll see if I can find it.

The only enviroment retex out there are several by GothicLegionaire and the car reskin I did a while ago.

If better textures can be done, they'll be very welcome

They can be done. I;ve got several done, there are just so many it's probably better for me to release them in separate packs for each location, Santa Monica, Downtown, etc...The exterior stuff is proving to be easier...those interiors are gonna be a bitch, let me tell you from experience. I'll try to get some prelim screens up soon, here. My job's pretty damn busy right now and I'm dividing time between that and PLAYING Bloodlines as well as CoC: DCotE.

I am glad to see that someone is further enhancing this game.

Are you doing both Normal maps and Color map enhancements for all textures? Will these be higher resolution also?

Shikamaru, can I get a link to your car texture replacement? Did you do textures for all automobiles including taxi, box truck, parked cars and moving cars?
