                Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I've finally released the Clan Quest mod, which introduces seven new quests for each of the individual clans. I never did manage to finish all the voice work, but I get the impression that a lot people don't have too much contention with that. In any case, I'm curious to see what people think, and I hope everyone likes it!

The download it available at filefront.com here:

 http://www.filefront.com/14355487/

For more information about the mod itself, you can check out my moddb page here:

 http://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-clan-quest-mod/

And last but not least, any criticisms, suggestions, compliments, bug reports, etc., can be directed to the forum I setup, here:

 http://vtmb-clan-quest.forumotion.net/

Thanks everyone, I hope to hear from you!

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm sorry to be asking another question, but I'm wondering - is the unofficial patch included in the Clan Quest mod - or is it merely compatible with it. Basically, I'm wondering if I need to download the Unofficial Patch separately.
(As you may have guessed, I'm eager to give your mod a run through and am trying to figure out what order to make the installations.)

The Clan Quest Mod is built on top of the Unofficial Patch v5.8, so you don't have to do anything to install it; it's already there.

However, if you have the retail version of the game (you have a CD, that is), then you have to install the official 1.2 patch yourself before installing clan quest. You can pick that up here if you don't already have it:

Let me know if you need anything else!

I just want to add my words of gratitude to the rest. Fantastic to have a chance to play the game in a fresh way.

I assume that the mod is stand alone and not compatible with any of the other unofficial patches ( from Wesp, for example). Is that the case?

It actually is built on top of Weps's UP 5.8, so you're good there, unless you wanted one of the newer versions. Also, it doesn't mix well with Comp Mod ... yet. However, I see no reason why it wouldn't work with custom models, sounds ... probably even Arsenal mod would mix well, although I haven't tried myself.

Thank you very much! You've been most helpful!! It's always great to come across such fine folk on the internet. I'll be trying out this mod in a few hours. Woo!

Just to make sure I've done it right:

I had to get the Steam version of the game yesterday since Disc 1 was sadly pretty damaged. Still not sure how that happened, but anyway...

Steam version comes with patch 1.2 as I understand it. So, after downloading the Steam version, I went ahead and unzipped your mod file to the appropriate folder (in this case the subdirectory under steam applications).

I had made an extra copy of the game (as per your readme instructions) so that I would have a clean slate to revert to if anything went wrong.

I wasn't quite certain what to do next but I activated the 7z465.exe and placed the resulting 7-zip folder in the Vampire directory too, since I assumed this was what I was supposed to do.

I'm wondering - is this the installation process complete? I don't see the Saved files that apparently came with the mod, so I'm wondering if I've done something wrong. I have started up a new game but am only on the first mission - I thought it may be better to post now with this question rather than wait and see if I get an extra quest further down the line.

I've got a second question regarding the unofficial patch upon which the clan quest mod runs. Is it the basic or the plus version of the patch that is running? I didn't see any option during the installation where I could pick one or the other.

I realise these questions are probably a little remedial but I'd really appreciate a helping hand from anyone.

You’re close, but not quite there. The 7z465.exe is actually just a compression tool used to shrink down the actual mod. The folder you created, I’m thinking if it was called 7-zip, was just the output of the 7z tool installer, not the mod itself. You still need to use 7z to actually extract the Vampire.7z file which was included in the download. This will create the Vampire folder you want to place into your main Vampire directory (the one with Vampire.exe in it; it’ll probably already have a “Vampireâ€? folder in it, and you just overwrite that with the mod).

Likewise, I built this on the plus patch, and unfortunately, do not provide an option to choose otherwise. I figure though, anyone wishing to add new content to the game won’t have any qualms with the stuff that Wesp added  = )
Of course really, not having that choice is a result of me doubting I would ever actually work on this mod for this long, haha.

Finally, I think it’s just worth mentioning now, that if you’re having woes installing the mod, you may just want to wait. I’m working on creating a v 1.1 release which will not only reduce the download size by about 60%, but also include the same installer that the unofficial patch uses, making the install process a lot smoother. Also, based on one fan’s suggestion, I’m going to make learning blood heal a role playing decision for player’s that want the game to be a smidge more challenging. Basically Nines will teach you blood heal only if you want it. I expect I’ll have this all done by end of week.
