Re: Clan Quest Mod 20 Released
« on: May 22, 2010, 07:50:00 AM »
I am happy to announce today the release of Clan Quest Mod version 2.0! This release concerted it's efforts to combining as many of the other great mods for VtM:B out there into one seamless package. No more do you have to consider what happens if you install mod X with mod Y, because you can get them all in 1 convenient location – where they've already been programmed to play well together.

Previous editions included, the Unofficial Patch (with plus version), Arsenal Mod, Revised Weapon Sounds mod, Camarilla Edition 1.1, and the Revised Histories mod. Not only have these been updated – UP is now integrated up to latest version, 6.9, and CE has been updated to version 1.2 – but there are several new additions.

As of 2.0, there's also the Music Mod, which completed changes the game's soundtrack. There's Pop's Difficulty mod which makes all the enemies tougher and stronger. There's the PnP Combat mod, which captures the combat system from the PnP equivalent. The later two can even be combined to create a sort of, “Nightmare Modeâ€?, where the enemies are tougher, and more proficient, and the player is forced to rely more heavily on disciplines to survive. One or two dozen custom models/skins are also integrated as convenient options to install.

But that's not all! 2.0 also introduces two brand new cut scenes, both prefacing vigilante scenarios, where the player can do some good with his or her vampiric abilities. As another optional install, users can have loading screens that actually change over the course of the game's story, instead of the same old graphic the whole way through.

And just to top it off, several dozen bug fixes have been implemented, as well as having one of the vanilla game's many superfluous cut scenes outright removed.

That's just all the new stuff. You still get the original 8 new quests that have shipped in previous versions of CQM, as well as the nerfed/enhanceable blood heal discipline.

I hope you all enjoy the new material – and just as a matter of fact, plans for 2.1 with more new quests and features are already underway!

Download 2.0 at the new and improved planet-vampire.org

 Enjoy!

I would actually prefer CE 1.3 instead of Compmod, because compmod will require a great amount of work.

Great job on this release Burgerman!  The download page you made on PV is insanely professional, from the screenshots to the description. Very nice work man, you deserve a cookie, chocolate chip even! happy

Hello, congratulations on the release. Unfortunately, I have a problem preventing me from enjoying your work.

I followed the instructions (changed install directory which defaulted to steam) to the Activision directory but i'm unsure whether the mod is loaded or not. I've got Arsenal and everything loaded in there but i'm still seeing the old baseball bats and .38's.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the mod isn't working properly on my end. I don't see the blood heal discipline. I have a few possible explanations: the installer doesn't create its own "vampire" directory as described in the readme. Just for confirmation, in the Vampire directory (nested within the main vampire - bloodline directory) I see a bunch of .pak files, stats.txt, vidcfg.bin, cfg, cl_dlls, dlls, maps, media, python, SAVE, sound, hl2.tmp. Is this correct?

Another explanation: i downloaded the game via UK direct2drive. At the very end of the installation process I was informed that "Could not load the DLL library C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - The Masquerade - Bloodlines\aminstall.dll. The specified module could not be found." (as detailed in my install.log). Does this have anything to do with the error?

Anyway thanks in advance for the help.

This question was just asked on the CE forums, here's what was said, hopefully this will help.

Question: I just downloaded VTMB from D2D and want to try Camarilla Edition 1.3, what do I do?

Answer: What you want to do is, run CE 1.3 and when the path screen comes up you will notice you can manually type the path in. Type this in...

 C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - The Masquerade - Bloodlines

That will redirect the installer to install to \Vampire - The Masquerade - Bloodlines\ instead of the retail version which is the default location \Vampire - Bloodlines\.

After it installs, open up the game and you should have all of the new stuff.

 Have fun! happy

Just as an addendum, be sure to add \Vampire\ to that, so it should look like this:

 C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Vampire\

Oh you must package your files a little differently than I do. I just lay \vampire\ down over the installed \vampire\ directory, you must put all of your files 1 directory down. Cool School.

I'm playing bloodlines in wine. It works ok after disabling pixel shaders in wine and installing the unofficial patch. However it doesn't work after installing the clan quest mod 2.0 (new install obviously).

I did install the clan quest mod without installing the official patch first because the unoffical patch already includes the official patch files (also because the read-me seemed out of date). Is it only that? The error that appears in a window is:
 "Engine error"
"Parent template 'Zombie' not loaded before dependent template 'NPCGeneric'"

(the wine error probably doesn't make sense, only happens after the window error is clicked)

What install options did you choose? I know this error; obviously, I didn't expect you to encounter it, but it could be a OP thing, or it could be a legitimate problem in the mod.

I'm hooked on the steam version of the game where you don't have to fuss with the OP, so I'm a bit ignorant about what it changes, and how UP has integrated that. My experience has been that the retail version of the game, and the steam version of the game, have slightly different versions of the vampire.dll file, and using the wrong one will screw your game up. I *think* Wesp fixes this by including both, but then the user has to rename the vampire.dll.12 file to vampire.dll to get it to work right on retail installs.

Therefore, I always recommend retail users install the OP separately anyways, because it doesn't really hurt anything, and you know for certain you have the right version of the dll file then.

Anyways, it could be the OP or it could be the mod at this point; I need to know what install options you chose to know for sure. If you can't remember exactly, the installer will remember the previous options, so you can start that up again and cancel midway, just to take a look at what you picked.

 Hey Battlemouse,

When you executed the installer, did you point it at C:\<Your activision vampire directory>\Vampire\ or just C:\<Your Activision Vampire directory>?

You want to point it at the \Vampire\ directory. I actually have not been able to find someone with the D2D version to help me test, so let me know if this helps.
