I created them as .tga files, converted to .vtf, and generated a .vmt. I have them all in the correct folder. I initially had the lighting settings wrong in the vmt, which affected how it looked in-game, but once I corrected that.... I'm getting the original unaltered clan symbols.

Really, really nice work there.
The gradients aren't an exact match, partly due to how the targa files were saved, and probably partly due to the ttz conversion process. Close enough, though.
