Bloodlines Santa Monica
« on: March 06, 2017, 05:46:50 AM »
Hi, I just wanted to share some shots of bloodlines stuff I have been working on. I will be posting occasionally when I remake parts. I'm also creating normal maps for pretty much every surface and just generally adding detail.

Quick render, no proper materials really just textures. This was mostly a remake shot, I've been slowly going through re-making parts and deciding what to re-texture.

Some stuff like the facades will get only a small upgrade since it's so out of the way

Minor increase in polycount for this too

These where a pain, its not as identical but some small improvements - will look MUCH better with the normal map applied

Again stuff like this, the worn bumpy metal will look much better with a normal map and improved lighting, but decided to add a bit of detail

Improved lightmaps, specular highlights, screen space reflections and normal maps are what will really make the difference in the end though.

Next up: a bin and a lamp post.

Keep up the work. Refreshing even the tiniest bit of Bloodlines is worthy of respect - lengthens the game's life expectancy that is already long. ;)

One suggestion, could you please upload your stuff here once a certain area is complete? So it doesn't just vanish over night like all the work Icicle did, when she suddenly cancelled her mod...

Will do. I'm out of the loop on that though I read something about it - which mod was Icicle's?

I'll upload a blend when about half the props are done, and another for the 2nd half.

I'll also upload a blend for the updated buildings - this is mostly useless for source but someone might want to have fun with it.

In an ideal world I would re-do the textures too but at that point it becomes a lot less fun for me, and an insurmountable amount of work. I can at least attempt to improve the texture mapping on remade props (there is a limit since many of the textures don't tile where ideally they should).

Here is the slightly improved lamp post

Icicle was working on a mod called the "Malkavian Madness" mod.

Thanks.

Jazzed up this building (dw its a technical term), really basic keeping poly count low but just adding a bit of depth to the surface

Oh I said the a bin would be done, so here we go. It's a bit more round, literally nothing else.

At the moment it's just a sort of, fun thing I enjoy doing. The props could all be used but the buildings can't, and normal maps I am not so sure. My intention is to get it all into godot engine 3.0, with a character+animations+physics. After that I'll see what I want to do next.

That's amazing! I mean, of course it won't be a full HI RES HD 2017 VERSION but still I'd love to download new textures pack after you will finish. Would love to help you but I'm not an artist

Wow this is so promising!
Love the lamp reworked.

But why include it in Unofficial patch? It is not a bugfix nor restoration. This has to go as separate mod for sure.

The Unoffical Patch comes with mods that aren't directly included in it already. It's just a general improvement and the Unoffical Patch will allow it to reach as many as people as possible easily.

For sure i wouldn't want this to be applied universally. Bloodlines is one of the few 3d games my bad computer can even run, so something that makes its graphics perform worse for frivolous reasons such as 'curved arches' is something i want to avoid.
