- The combat system and the melee are the biggest priorities right now, without them there's really no point going further.

Roleplaying anyone?

-So add a dice roller to the chat box and Radical will be satisfied... but now on to EVERYONE ELSE.

Hi all! Been quite a while since I have been here, but nice to see old names still around and supporting the coolest game in the universe! Thank you for keeping this up.

I got the email regarding this mp portion of the mod, so here I am. I will be downloading and reinstalling the game, but I won't be off to really dig into it until next week (hopefully monday/tuesday), but rest assured, I will surely check this out and give you my feedback!

Okay I must be doing something wrong here >_>

I can't seem to have it working ; I have the CD version of VTMb, I've installed Alien Swarm, I've redownloaded the file, installed it, launched it, indicated where was Steam (D:/Steam), where was the vampire - bloodlines directory (D:/Vampire Bloodlines Resurgence I've named it)
it extracted the materials (convert and copy, converting materials, it may take some time...), the dates and hours have changed... But there's nothing on Steam, no way to launch it. It appears in my D:Steam/steamapps/sourcemods/vampiremp, but no way to launch anything :(

Edit : nevermind, another reboot solved it for some reason XD

I'm stuck on the installation process. I got stuck on the step that says "Converting materials, this will take some time"

The bar doesn't make any progress and the start button is highlighted like I'm supposed to click it. But I click it and it acts like it's beginning to do something and then it just stops and the start button becomes clickable again.

Maybe I started the installation incorrectly. It seemed like a 2 part process because the file I downloaded seemed to install a folder called "Bloodlines Resurgence" into my start menu folder full of files, one of which I had to click  to begin the installation process and point to my bloodlines steam directory.

I'm glad it all worked out, but to solve some of the confusion which I may or may not specified yet, is that Steam requires to be restarted in order to show up any new mod installed and that your Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines directory is infact the game directory itself, but I found the name a bit odd having it called Vampire Bloodlines Resurgence. About the time/date being changed, that is an odd one because it shouldn't happen.

Make sure you don't have any older version of Bloodlines Resurgence installed before installing the multiplayer. In any case, you should delete the Bloodlines Resurgence in your Application Data folder (run %appdata% in Explorer or Run). After that you should run the installer again which should fix the converting materials issue.

I'll be releasing a new update somewhere next week before Chrismas that fixes the odd crashes and the installer issues, and hopefully will manage to integrate the changes from the feedback gathered so far.

I was wondering if there is any reason if it's really necessary to have most aspects of the game done with the original concept in mind. For example the inventory can be done in different manners. I always thought the original inventory wheel selection gets cluttered and it's not too organized.
My concept is of having a single panel that consists of several tabs or buttons to choose the list of items that you can equip. Some items cannot be dropped, such as keys, so they can be stored on a separate tab. There are a lot of concept to go with but I would like to hear your feedback regarding this before making any further changes.

Also about the update, it'll take some time to get some huge changes done in the code base to fix some memory leaking caused from the way Alien Swarm handles cleaning up entities which is why it crashes at some occasions after changing map or exiting the game.

I agree with this, a Bloodlines games should be more focusing on little skirmishes around not letting opps to get blood/objectives, and sometimes helping others to get them. I dream about using the features of walking and hide guns to blend in the crowd (with pc dolls) and then ambush foes on the parking lots...

Any new updates on this project? (I'm downloading AS now to test it)

Unfortunately not, and I won't be supporting it any longer. Source has proven over and over to be a burden to work with. We've been trying to get a prototype done in Unity which shown really huge potential, but upon contacting White Wolf regarding permission to release the game to avoid any conflict, been told they can't provide permission for that. Such a shame though, Unity would have proven a lot of potential for this revival, but it's their call after all. I will resign from the project indefinitely, as I won't see any development happening on Source. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry to hear that, but I was almost fearing something like that, after White Wolf forced the Sanguine Nights people to move away from the WoD lore which may have been one reason why their kickstarter failed.

So Bloodlines is all we will ever get until the MMO comes out! On one hand I'm glad, because now my work will not become obsolete one fine day ;), on the other I think all your knowledge shouldn't be wasted!

How about doing an expansion for Bloodlines itself, like the missing East Hollywood hub or something completely new? The second new level restored for the UP shows that doing new maps is easily possible with the Bloodlines SDK and you are probably one of the best mapping experts for Bloodlines out there.

Also should I post these sad news on the main page?

Although their intention was different, they wanted to kickstarter a project using their IP / lore at first. I've been told that White Wolf gives you permission to use their IP as long as you don't make money off it. Resurgence is a bit different here, being a port of the original game would mean providing the full game contents. Unlike Source, in Unity wouldn't have the option to convert the assets from the game you own, but ship it as a whole. There could be other measures implemented but it seems it didn't sound too keen on them.

I can't be too positive on the MMO though, all I see are EVE online based MMOs coming out and not a WoD one. Nothing is truly wasted as long as you've gained any sort of knowledge on the way.

I would propose to that idea, seeing how stable the SDK is now, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be easy. The new Hammer also gained a lot of improvements over the time. Although I am not too familiar with all the missing contents so that will be up to you to fill me in.

And yes, please do. I will do so on the main site and everywhere else. I would love to get the project continue development, although the only way I see it happen is if it move away completely from the WoD lore. But that'd beat the purpose. An early prototype I've gotten done a few weeks ago for a proof-of-concept can be seen on this . For a higher quality view try downloading the video.

Waking up with this news is sad but understandable, just a few months away for this ten year anniversary and all that. Nevertheless, Atrblizz you have my full support and if there is some meager task you need to be helped with, don't hesitate the contact.

The multiplayer part was mostly a rushed release since it was mostly used to build the core for single player too. But being built on Source had so many set backs that kept hitting the same wall over and over, which definitely given the project a bad image. I would have gotten a lot of support from other developers on the Unity engine switch as well. On a personal level, it is hard to just let go of the whole project but I presume it's for the best. The Unity build would have proven such huge potential, both coding wise and art wise. But I suppose it's best not to dwell on the past.

Atr, thanks for all the work, we all owe you thanks to the work you have done.
I think Source is a massive roadblock, I've tried contacting Valve several times on my own for any resources or code, but it seems like they want Source to die, to make place for the next engine.

I can understand that. White Wolf probably still gets some money for every Bloodlines copy sold on Steam and elsewhere, and these are quite a lot of copies during the sales, like on Halloween! You wouldn't be able to demand money for Resurgence but it would still kill of some regular Bloodlines sales.

I'm not interested in MMOs at all, so even a WoD MMO would not be something for me...

The problem is that we already restored everything we know details about and now it would be neccessary to move into new territory. Like from the music composer we know that Troika planned a "latino" Eastern Hollywood hub very early on and judging from a lot of oilfield related models, the LA oilfield lies east from Hollywood in the real LA, we could get an overall feeling how this was intended to look, but that's about it. No quests, NPCs, stories and similar are known...
